Interesting that the MU-Jamil story just doesn't die...

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiting/basketball/mens/news/story?id=3920883

DaShonte Riley, C, Detroit/Country Day
Player rank (position rank): 33 (7)
Considering: Virginia, Marquette, LSU, Cal, South Florida, Oregon, Oregon State and Syracuse.
Front-runners: Syracuse might have a slight lead on the others.
Recruiting overview: Riley was a Georgetown commit, but he recanted during the fall signing period. He recently visited Syracuse, and could be a solid contributor there as a freshman. His high school teammate, Jordan Dumars, signed with South Florida in the fall.
Scouts Inc. says: Riley is a long, wiry athlete who possesses good skill. He runs the floor well and can finish when he has a step on the defense. He is a good ball handler and passer. He's effective in the high post area from which he can drive the lane, deliver the high-low pass to a teammate posting in the middle of the lane or shoot the 15-foot jumper.

Jamil Wilson , SF, Racine, Wis./Horlick
Player rank (position rank): 62 (11)
Considering: Oregon, Michigan State, Texas and Marquette.
Front-runner: Oregon, Michigan State and Texas.
Recruiting overview: The three top schools are just about even. Oregon was the leader going into the early period. Marquette is on the outside, but it has been fairly successful with in-state recruits.
Scouts Inc. says: Wilson is a skilled wing who is long and athletic, and a solid shooter with range to 20 feet. He is very good off the dribble and can create his own shot, but needs to improve his shooting consistency. Wilson is a very good ball handler for his size and a skilled passer. He can post up but prefers to play on the perimeter. He is an average defender, but has good length and athleticism, so he should improve with added strength. Wilson is a good, not great rebounder, but that should also improve as he gets stronger. He would be considered an elite recruit who could be an immediate impact player in the right situation.

At the risk of spoiling the delayed announcement from Jamil. He is not coming here. I have inside information from Jamil's best friend on the basketball team that he will be attending Texas next year

Riley is visiting for the UCONN game and is down to Syracuse and MU according to an article on the Syracuse site.

He will decide after his season is over.

Positive:  The BC will be absolutely jumpin'.

Negative:  Closeup look at Thabeet may scare him right out of the Big East.

Ask his friend how much PT he will get.  If Wilson goes to Texas, he will be up against some outstanding incoming talent at SF and SG and will have to go up against these committed recruits:

2009 6ft 7 Jordan Hamilton  #2 rated SF
2009 6ft 9 Shaun Williams   #10 rated SF
2009 6ft 3 Avery Bradley     #3 rated SG

Then in 2010:

The #2 overall rated prospect in SF 6ft 7 Tristan Thompson.

Just don't see it.

Wilson to Texas?

An awful long way to be from family for a guy who has delayed his commitment announcement to honor his late Mom.

And Oregon is not a bus ride away either.  Oh by the way they are 7 and 20 on season, 1 and 14 in PAC 10 play, with a lame duck coach.

If these reports are accurate, he can't avoid Thabeet in Syracuse either.

Syracuse is a hard campus to compete with, even if the town itself isn't really spectacular.

I hope he decides to come to MU.......otherwise the kid should think about converting to Judaism if he elects SU

If true, I find that ironic: We are gaining recruits from Texas, and we lose a WI recruit to the Lone Star State.

Until MR HAYWARD gets the call and GYMBAR loses his Wilson optimism, there is still a great chance.

Let Wilson go. He's not coming to MU.

Thank you Boone for being a voice of reason. I have been saying all year he isn't coming and I get sick of it constantly being brought up. My guess is still Michigan State.

Let Wilson go away for a year. When he is unhappy the logical place to transfer to is MU.

I wouldn't doubt Buzz goes hard after both Riley and Wilson expecting transfers from a couple guys this summer.

DomJamesToTheBasket

Riley is down to 2 and already visited Syracuse. The ball is in our court.

I also find Jamil's decision strange if true, and I'm 99.9 percent sure it is. I looked at their recruiting class and couldn't figure out why he would pick the one school that he would have trouble finding playing time at.

Also, He strongly considered Oregon until seeing the down year that they were having this year.
