I did my undergrad at South Dakota State while it was D2.  NDSU was in that conference (North Central) and both are Summit League teams.  The old NCC was considered one of the nation's toughest D2 conferences....one that would destroy low-level D1 conferences.  NDSU has always been a very good sports school.  It is an MU-sized school and has great facilities....it has a dome for football and basketball.   It has had D1 hockey forever and competes at the highest level in that sport.  They recruit well in MN and the Dakotas and even pick up some WI kids on occasion.   Some schools are simply used to winning and that is NDSU.

On the women's side, SDSU this year beat UW, MN, IL, Gonzaga and Utah as was ranked earlier in the season.  I only mention that because its always good to beat UW no matter the sport.
