the Warriors! During the Louisville/DePaul game. One of these decades, what they're trying to pass off as a nickname may catch on...or not! If it was so annoying, it would be laughable.

I don't miss it. But as time passes, the more people will be referring to MU "correctly" as the Golden Eagles. =(

Everytime I hear "Warriors", I smile.  ;D

PCN,  I do not know you, and your incessant griping about the name issue is overbearing to me, but I did think about you last night as I attended a high school basketball game between teams with the nicknames Warriors and Apaches, respectively!

Once a warrior, always a warrior!!

That said, I can understand folks that went to school as a GE and want to be referred to as a GE.  They're just in the vast minority vs. those folks who went to school as Warriors.

Also, did you guys see the article this week on how the Indian tribe has requested Illinois return the Chief Illini garb?  Eventhough the chief of the tribe presented it to the school in 1982... are the younger american indians becoming too sensitive?? http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/illinois/cs-070118illiniwek,1,7432321.story?coll=cs-college-headlines
