They've advanced to the Global Investment Research Challenge regional in New York by beating UWM in the final.  They also beat UW-Madison, UW-Whitewater, the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Alverno College, Wisconsin Lutheran College and Carroll University.

If we win in New York they'll continue onto the Global competition in London!

Great job guys and gals!

Good for them, I wonder if their portfolio is in the black?  Seems like the only folks pulling that off are the ultraconservative investments in some bonds or fixed income type investments right now.

Here's some info I pulled off the organization's website

"The universities assemble teams of 3-5 business and finance students who work directly with a company in researching and preparing a company analysis.  The team's final presentations are locally evaluated by high-profile panels of heads of research, portfolio managers, and chief investment officers from the world's top firms."

So, from what I gather, they are essentially doing part of an entry level analysts work.  I don't think they are investing real or fake money.

I would say this winning performance is more impressive than a stock picking contest because there is almost no luck involved in nailing a presentation, they were just harder working and better prepared than all the other teams.
