Looks like the Hoyas are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their 1984 National Championship and they're desperate for us to not spoil their party :)

It'd be a shame if something happened to their nice championship celebration. [/fat tony]

Last time we played there they announced their All-Time Georgetown team and brought back around 50 former players for a ceremony at halftime.

I see a trend here...think Gtown wants to make sure they have everyone completely amped up when they play MU

Didn't we spoil the party at NC State earlier in the season?

Yes, although in that case, they were celebrating the 1974 title, which they won by beating Marquette.

Actually NC State did not win the title that year.  they beat us in the semis and lost to (who else) UCLA

No, NC State beat MU in the NCAA Championship after they beat UCLA in the semi finals.  They broke UCLA's streak of 7 consecutive titles with that win.

Could the WIKI be wrong?

The 1974 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament involved 25 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. It began on March 9, 1974, and ended with the championship game on March 25 in Greensboro, North Carolina. A total of 29 games were played, including a third place game in each region and a national third place game.

North Carolina State, coached by Norm Sloan, won the national title with a 76-64 victory in the final game over Marquette, coached by Al McGuire. This result ended UCLA's record streak of seven consecutive titles. David Thompson of North Carolina State was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.

Yeah, you were probably thinking of this cover:

But that was the SEMI-final game.
