If you really think about it, you can figure out which player is who but I thought this poll will show less bias than one with names.

I'll tell you who is who in a few days.

I am throwing a wrench in this one... I know who C (and D) is and I voted for C.  But I think D is the better stat line.  Four more points and a ton more boards.

Wouldn't you want to factor in team record and maybe FG%?

Ready2Fly

You might want to have stats from the Big East conference play only, since that is what determines Big East player of the year.

Big East only averages:
"Player C"
23.5 P, 4.7 R, 4.8 A, 2.4 S, 1.0 B, 48.9 FG%, 47.5 3P%, 70.0 FT%, 15.8 FGA/game, 6.9 FTA/game

"Player D"
27.3 P, 14.3 R, 3.0 A, 0.9 S, 1.0 B, 47.2 FG%, 40.0 3p%, 84.1 FT%, 22.3 FGA/game, 6.8 FTA/game

"Player D" has the advantage in points, rebounds, and free throw percentage.

"Player C" has the advantage in assists, steals, field goal perctentage, and three point percentage.  He also shoots 6.5 less shots per game.  If Player C's attemtps went up, they were all two's, and he shot a worse percentage (as often happens when FGA's increase), he would average around 28 points per game.  One could argue the points per game is a wash as well.  Then it comes down to defense.  Player C has the same amount of blocks per game, but significantly more steals.  Advantage Player C.  Rebounds are hugely slanted toward player D, but position-wise Player C is 2nd at SG and Player D is 1st at PF.  Player C also leads his position is assists (not sure where player D falls, but I imagine he's up there).

So it's not as cut and dry as the original poll makes it seem.  Plus, if I were making an "All Big East" dream starting five, Player D would be the first off the bench.

PG: Johnny Flynn
SG: Player C
SF: Terrence Williams
PF: DeJuan Blair
C: Hasheem Thabeet

I like what you did with the blind stat test, and the numbers Player C & Player D are putting up this year are unreal.  But it would be hard to name someone Big East player of the year if he's not even the best at his position.  In my opinion, it's down to Thabeet, Blair, and Player C.  I think it will go to whatever player's team wins the conference, unless one of them goes on a ridiculous statistical tear these next few weeks.

DJO's Pump Fake

Wins and Losses of each player's team is necessary isn't it?

I mean when did POY honors go to a player whose team is in 10th place in the conference.

I hope D is Blair.

I'd have to slap myself if I voted for Gody.

I think the majority of people could figure out which one Mcneal and Gody are, then Blair, probably Williams, and probably Adrien

Blair is the hands down favorite after last night.  he may in fct be unanimous after last night if the vote were being held now.  However it isnt so he is only the clear runaway leader at this point, things may change, but if the season ends today he gets min. 75% of the 1st place votes.

Player A - Thabeet - 13.5 PPG, 0.5 APG, 10.8 RPG, 4.4 BPG, 0.5 SPG, .000 3P%
Player B -  Blair - 15.4 PPG, 1.2 APG, 12.3 RPG, 0.8 BPG, 1.7 SPG, .000 3P%
Player C - McNeal - 20.2 PPG, 3.9 APG, 4.6 RPG, 0.7 BPG, 2.1 SPG, .447 3P%
Player D - Harangody - 24.4 PPG, 2.4 APG, 12.7 RPG, 1.0 BPG, 1.0 SPG, .400 3P%
Player E - Williams - 12.1 PPG, 4.6 APG, 8.5 RPG, 0.9 BPG, 2.1 SPG, .337 3P%

You guys made a great point.  I really should have used Big East numbers only.

I thought the same thing but I saw the 3 point % and knew... voted for C (even though D is better)
