So who is going to be in DC this weekend and does anyone have suggestions on what to do/where to go after the game?

I will be there/here.  Before the game there is a MU sponsored reception.  After the game, I believe Penn Quarter Sports Tavern is the spot.

South Hall Warrior

A lot of the DC area alums are heading to Penn Quarter Sports Tavern after the game.

Is there a bar that is sure to be full of Gtown fans? I am thinking it will be fun if we win to go to a place full of hoya fans.

I'll be there along with four of my friends, including two other alums that are coming to visit.

where is the Penn Quarter? Within walking distance of the Verizon Center?

About two blocks south of the Verizon Center, at 7th and Indiana.  Right outside the green/yellow Archives/Penn Quarter metro stop.

I'll be there with 25 (that's twenty-five) friends. Arriving Thursday, departing Sunday. Details are up in the air, but we will be leaving DC in our wake.

MUfan12

We'll have a group of 16 at the game, roughly half from MKE and half from DC.

Getting in Thursday as well, hoping for another huge MU turnout. Can't wait!

foreverwarriors

Bought tix for 17 total. Definitely will be hopping down to Penn Quarter (2-3 blocks south of the Verizon...just look for the MU flag) after the game and hoping that a lot of others will be there to meet up with the normal crew that is there for games...

I just hope that y'all order some of the delicious fried mac and cheese that they serve.

ecompt

sounds like there will be a nice contingent of MU fans. We ordered our tix through MU and are picking them up at will-call. Hopefully we'll get a chance to sit close by. If you see someone in a blue MU hockey jersey, that will be me.

Tom Crean's Tanning Bed

I won't be in attendance this year unfortunately  :(, but my usual MU travel crew from Chicago of 6 will be heading out there this week.

PS:  to any current students that are looking for an excuse to take an MU road trip, absolutely do it.  The route is very driveable, and you will find some incredible MU hospitality out there.  Ask MUFan12 about it, I'm sure he can fill you in on how cool the 2007 trip was (besides the loss) ;D

I can vouch for what The General says...the 2007 trip was easily top 3 of my college experiences...exactly why I pushed my sister (current MU student) to get here for the game, regardless of what it took. And for those students who think that they can't make it because it is less than a week before it happens...get real.

Four of us decided the Thursday before at 7pm that we wanted to do it...we were there by 7am on Saturday morning, regardless of the fact that all of us had some kind of exam that Monday or Tuesday

jficke13

I'm going with two other students and its just a drive to the east coast. It's less than a day's drive so that should never be an excuse. A drive to L.A. on the other hand I could see dissuade some people.

Penn Quarter Sports Tavern is fine for game watching, but its a fairly small place. Two years ago there were very large crowds of Marquette fans at Irish Times, The Dubliner (both near Union Station) , and Buffalo Billiards (later on in the evening).

If you get to Penn Quarter and it is too crowded for your liking, I would recommend heading over to Irish Times or The Dubliner

Ohhh Kelly's Irish Times. That place became Murphy's East after the 07 game. I could deal with a repeat of that.

I can also vouch for Rocket Bar.  $3 PBRs (which in DC is a deal), skee-ball, and buck hunter.

Dope place.

Also one of the few places that actually has darts, and it's right across the street from the Verizon Center. Most likely hitting it up before game time since it opens at noon.

I have never been, but I will vouch from my time there that $3 anything in DC is beyond cheap. DC's a pricey city.

Anyone know if Penn Quarter will have their MU pitcher specials before or after the game? Anyone heading there before the game rather than Clyde's? The official MU pre-game reception at Clydes is $30 for adults and $15 for kids 4-15, which is a bit expensive, considering that doesn't cover drinks (cash bar).

I'll try to remember to check at PQST when I am there for the game tonight.

Norm

I'd go to Penn Quarter tonight myself but I have to watch the kids instead. Have fun.

they will be running normal specials as well as a two for one on everyones first round of pitchers

I agree that Irish times is great but I would imAgine that most are going there later at night. With Penn quarters specials and proximity to the verizon it will be tough to pass up

Yes it was. It was a pretty cool sight to see.
