I am noticing a trend in Buzz' recruiting.   The recruits get a chance to commit, if they dither or waffle, he moves on.    Jamil Wilson and Riley each had their chance.   MU wooed them.   When they didn't commit in a timely fashion, Buzz moved on.   Hello, Mr. Clark.   You want to be here and work for Buzz, so welcome.   I think I like it, as you don't have the months long "will he or won't he" drama, ala Schumpert.   You are in or you are out.   If you're out, we will go get the next guy.

It seems it all comes down to options.

Buzz is recruiting several different kids that have the same fit for MU and what Buzz wants to do.  If one isn't ready to make a decision on an offer, Buzz can easily move on to the next recruit that has the same skillset and ability.

This is something I think Crean failed at.  When he didn't get his "big" recruit, he often ended up with last minute JUCO's that didn't fit a need.

Buzz is a closer.  Crean is Levine

Coffee is for closers.  So are big men.

I guess that explains why Crean drinks Diet Pepsi Coke.

Does that mean the DaShonte Riley experience is over?

Unless there is a transfer of a big, I don't see how we can take him.   Unbalanced towards bigs if he comes.

The exceptions was Michael Snaer. That was a similar beauty contest like Schumpert.   I guess you need to make exceptions with 5-star recruits.

I agree with your observations on Buzz's style but am not sure that it necessarily applies to the Riley situation. It may. His initial visit did not take place because of weather and then the rescheduled Depaul visit apparently was again put off because the team was leaving right after the game to head to South Bend. Since he is in the midst of a basketball season himself, his only available weekend for a visit coming up is the St. Johns game. It does seem odd on the one hand that whomever is setting up the visits on both ends has managed to give erroneous information about the possible Georgetown visit which might suggest that Buzz was cooling on him anyway and closing on Clark. Or, it could be just honest snafus in getting an official visit scheduled. I suspect we will know soon either way.

Agreed. Crean went hard for a couple of players...then settled for some other leftovers (see: Blackledge).

Lets wait to see if the players are any good before we start claiming how great he is.  I don't care what anyone on this board says, I want the 5 star/ 4 star recruits and I don't see them for 2010.  BTW... I love quality bigs as much as the next basketball fan but who is going to back up Junior in 2010?

Buzz and the coaching staff are on record as stating that they want to have 12 High Major players on the roster and in an interview I saw recently with Aki Collins, he stated that the recruiting mission for 2010 and 2011 was to hit "home runs", not "singles" on recruits. Obviously, with Bowen and Clark, the coaching staff feel they have hit home runs by their definition. Time will tell.

that woul be reece just like this year

On paper and ranking wise we have a highly ranked group coming in next year, Bowen is an early pickup for 2010 and did not play AAU his ranking will move up, Clark is considered a highly ranked JC, so those are two solid additions after a solid 2009 class.  Concerns over a guard will be covered just give them time.

I think he's talking about the 2010-2011 season.  MU will have Junior as the only true pg.  Buycks, Butler, and Bowen are the other true guards on the roster along with a few swingmen.  I would think MU has to be looking at getting another pg to backup JC.
