So I'm listening to Homer's show and Buzz is on right now.  Buzz is apoligizing to Mac, Homer and the fans of the team.

I really like how Buzz admits he is wrong and comes out and says so.

MU gimp ONE

Buzz made it a point to apologize to Mac and everyone else on Homer's show... TRUE CHARACTER SHOWN NOW.
"You know, most people would kill... to be treated like a god, just for a few moments." - Coach Norman Dale

Good, get this water under the bridge...

Didn't handle it well, sorry, will try to not let it happen again.

Now, let's move on and destroy DePaul, USF and Nova in that order.
Sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

Tugg Speedman

Said his 94 second diatribe was a mistake so he called in to have a 94 second apology.

He said he was very emotional.  They pray after every game and they just said amen and then he was talking to Homer and Mac.

He wanted to publicly apologize.  Promises it will not happen again.

This is the second apology, called mac this morning and aplogized as well.  But wanted to do it in the same venue that he blow up.

ecompt

good for him. I think he probably realizes now it was a non-controversial question.

Tugg Speedman

Said this season has been a dream for the team and himself.  He has dreamed all his life to have what's happening this season.

MR.HAYWARD

Yet another thing our former coach was never man enough to do.  MU should thank God for Buzz.

There is a refreshing air of class around the program since the fool left on April 1st.

Buzz just manned up for his Saturday interview. Shows alot of balls. Can't help but admire Buzz. Wouldn't get the same response from the previous prick.

Mac said it tough to ask these post-game questions.  Mac took the answer as an emotional coach that wants the best for his players and nothing more.

2TimeWarrior

I give him a lot of credit for manning up to his mistake.  Everyone is entitled to make a mistake here and there...they should be judged on how they recover from them!

Skatastrophy

That was good of Buzz to man-up and apologize.

It was even better, though, of Mac to be so level headed about the whole situation.  He could have taken Buzz's head off on-air when it happened, but he didn't.  He did a great job managing a very hairy situation with the home-town coach.

Marquette_g

It probably became a bigger issue than it really was, but handled with class all around.

Time to beat DePaul.

True, but then again Crean would not have gone off on Mac the way that Buzz did.  Before you start your Crean-bashing reply, hear me out...

When asked how he keeps his players focused on games like this, I'm sure Crean would have had an an answer at the ready.  That was Crean's favorite kind of question -- a question about Crean.  He would have told a story about how he has a poster of the final four site in the locker room, or a story about how he had someone from the Bucks talk to the guys before the game, etc.

Over all, I'm a Crean supporter, liked him while he was here and think he did a great job for Marquette (hated the way he left, though).  But come one, if someone threw Crean a softball like "do you have any tricks that you use to keep the guys focused?" Crean would have gone one for five minutes.
Never wrestle with a pig.  You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.

Buzz says he learned from Don Haskins that after a shot, we have "rebounders" and "give back guys"  Says it really helps that guys know what to do after a shot, either rebound or get back.  He assigns these roles ahead of time.  Wes is an excellent "get back" guy so he doesn't get ans many offensive rebounds.

We've got some good guys representing us here.  Buzz did a nice job putting this to rest, and Mac was very gracious, didn't even acknowledge that there was anything to it.  Said that the hardest part of his job is coming up with questions to ask the coach after the game.  I want to apologize to Buzz for posting that there was probably something personal there.  There isn't.

Big Daddy 84

I expected no less from Buzz, he is the real deal and he does understand what a unique situation his players are in.

I tell my sons that they need to watch this team and enjoy because they may never see something this special again.

Buzz has turned a negative (his original comments) into a positive by coming out and taking full responsibility for his error.

Just like he has turned his teams lack of height into a positive by using it as motivation to keep kicking the competition's butts night in and night out.

Pro teams emulate their best players,

College teams emulate their coaches...

Buzz and this team were made for each other.

This interview today is great. I am glad of the dust up on Saturday otherwise we may never of heard some of this.

His discussion on his his rotation of bench players was really interesting and was really insightful.

His discussion on get back guys and rebound guys and how he always has Wes as get back guy and explains his low # of OR and JB is a rebound guy and that is why it easier for him to get OR since that is his focus.

I hope there is a way to down load this because if you are a fan of MUBB you will want to listen to the whole thing.

This was really good stuff....I hope he blows up more often  ;)  if we get this as a follow up.

I think I have a man crush on Buzz-----

PS  Spoke with Liam M after the ND game and his foot is fine and he is fully functional and has no limitations.

Buzz said he is humbled that god had it in his plans to employ him at Marquette.  The instituitons values and morals are his values and morals.  He feels bad that he blew up at "one of the family" when he went off on Mac.

He is very protective of his players.  he told the players sunday morning and apology to them and then used it as a teachable moment for his players to owning up to one's mistake.

Mac and Buzz both agreed the issue is over.

4everwarriors

You're right. But, I called this typical, all about me, Tom Crean bullshit.

This is spot on. Like Crean or not, one thing he can't be accused of is losing his wits. Kudos to Buzz for owning up, but Crean wouldn't have put himself in that spot to begin with.

only a warrior

I've never really heard him speak before - very strange how obsessed he is with numbers.

Sounds like a very genuine person - can see why the players like him

Tugg Speedman

Buzz is famous for the numbers things.  It's been written about many times.

ChuckyChip

Kudos to Buzz.  I was critical of him Saturday, but he showed that he walks the walk via his apology.

4everwarriors

Crean is just not as honest and more experienced in pulling the media's chain.
