UCONN and Louisville play each other on ESPN for Big Monday this week.  Who should we cheer for?  And I am setting ranking aside.  Ranking means nothing.  I'm talking in terms of the Big East season.

I think I want Louisville to win because I fear UCONN more.

I disagree I think we can be UCONN at home with some amazing dude being our eagle.  But ya, I give us a better chance of beating UCONN at home than Louisville at freedom hall.
TT we should go to freedom hall for the game.

cheebs09

I think Louisville is the better team. UCONN seems like at some point it will lose to a lower team just due to a loss of focus. Also, I really think UL is the best team in the Big East, they have good guards and a pretty beast frontline. Either way, these are two very good teams that I am scared for us to play. I think they are two of the worst matchups for us.

ErickJD08

At first glance, I want Louisville to lose.  ALTHOUGH, now that I think about it, having a two game lead is VERY nice.  Hmmm.  When you think about it, its a tough one.

See I feel the complete opposite.  I think UL is the team that will lose focus in a game or two.  UCONN I believe is the best team in the Big East.  It's damn close though.

Very very tempting.

Yea it is for sure close, maybe my view is skewed because UL drilled us twice last year. Either way both are very good teams and a win against either would put me on cloud nine. I just always think of UL laying a few eggs in non-conference and then turning it on in confeence season. But I think the major drawbacks of both of these teams is they are very talented with coaches who have experienced a lot of success so they might get a tad complacent in their games. I can't wait to see this game.

And UConn drilled us once last year. I was there and it was bad bad.

I'm hoping for a TIE.  ;D

Seriously, I want MU to be alone in 1st place.  Go UCONN.

Our regular season goal for this team should be to WIN the Big East.   Nobody hangs up a banner for second or third place.  So, having a two-game cushion (in the loss column) over 3rd place is not nearly as important as having a one-game cushion over 2nd place.

This last week has shown me this team is a legitimate contender, and I am beyond hoping for a top 4 seed in the BE tourney.  Barring a complete collapse, a top 4 finish is all but assured.  The goal needs to be a Big East Championship, which would likely yield a #1 seed in the NCAA tourney.   :P

MR.HAYWARD

+1 billion we aint playing for second!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

muguru

There is absolutely NO question we root for UCONN. They have 1 loss in conference, UL has none. As the previous poster stated, it is no longer the goal to finish top 4. the goal is to win the BE title. Giving as many teams losses before MU gets one, is vitally important for MU.

I want this quote to serve as a reminder to the vast majority of scoop posters in regards to the MU BB program.

4everwarriors

It's a no brainer, 'Ville needs to lose since they're tied with us in the standings.

I'll be cheering for UCONN because UL has an easier schedule

while UL is hot right now, I think UCONN is the team that is built for a deeper run in the tourney. In all likelihood, they're #1 tomorrow at tipoff and hopefully keep that for a few weeks, allowing us to knock the #1 team in the country off at the BC on the 25th.

On the other hand, (and this may be me daydreaming a bit too much on Feb 1) wouldn't it be sweet if UL and us were still unbeaten going into our matchup? Talk about putting us on the national map.....

After years of heartbreak from UL (namely Reece Gaines, Francisco Garcia, Jerry Smith, last year in general), I would love to hand it to them at their house in front of a fired up crowd with everything on the line.

Damn...that's always my favorite option.

I want Louisville to win. I think we have a better chance of beating Louisville at Louisville than we have beating Uconn at MU. I also have the dream of MU/Louisville game being between two undefeated teams in the conference.

Badgerhater

With regard to other BE games...the team with more losses ALWAYS needs to win.....

.....but it would be great if it went 4 overtimes and set both up for another loss in their next game.

TallTitan34

But I'd rather be in sole possession of first place after 18 games instead of after 8.

I think UL will have more losses at the end and not Uconn.

Louisville's Remaining Schedule:
2/02   CONN
2/08   @ SJU
2/12   @ ND
2/15   DEP
2/18   PROV
2/21   @ UC
2/23   @ GU
3/01   MARQ
3/04   HALL
3/07   @ WVU

UCONN's Remaining Schedule:
2/02   @ UL
2/07   MICH
2/11   SYR
2/14   @ HALL
2/16   PITT
2/21   USF
2/25   @ MARQ
2/28   ND
3/07   @ PITT

I think the previous posters are correct when saying it is now about winning the Big East, and to win the Big East I believe it is vital for UCONN to win this game tomorrow night.  We will then be in sole possession of 1st place and UCONN still has a home and home with pitt left to play.....UCONN all the way!

Badgerhater

Interesting schedules.   After the UCONN game, L'ville's only top team to play is MU, however, @WVU, @GU maybe even ND (if they right their ship) can be tough games.

Meanwhile, UCONN plays Pitt twice and MU.

I suspect L'ville will do better than UCONN down the stretch....but anything can happen...this is why this conference is soooo much fun!

CAINMUTINY

After getting destroyed by 47 in Louisville a few years back I have nothing but disgust for that team and their coach.

I cannot get myself to root for Louisville.  Too many down to the wire games, too much Rick, too much....
Like trying to root for ND, I cannot.  Hopeless again.  Go UCONN!

TallTitan34

If UConn wins tomorrow they are 0.5 game ahead of us in the standings. We'll be tied again if we beat DePaul.

We would be ahead in the important loss column though.

Could we please ban anyone who votes for Louisville in this poll from the forum?

Anyone who votes for Louisville is either a) insane b) a Loserville spy c) both

Its simple: We are Marquette. They are Louisville. We are both undefeated in conference. We want them to lose period.
