Reading from the yahoo news feed at the top of the forum.. two palm beach articles.. nice love from that coast with presumably no east coast bias...
#1) http://www.palmbeachpost.com/sports/content/sports/epaper/2006/11/05/a13b_choopcandy_1105.html?cxtype=rss&cxsvc=7&cxcat=46
says under it's "sleeper teams" category: "Marquette: Georgetown and Pittsburgh are the pre-season darlings of the appropriately named Big East, but look for the Golden Eagles to make some serious noise. Sophomores Dominic James, Jerel McNeal and Wesley Matthews could be the best trio of guards in the conference, and a deep roster will have Marquette back on the national radar for the first time since Dwyane Wade led the team to the 2003 Final Four."
Also says Wisconsin will make it to the final four.. see what he says come december 9th at about 3pm (CST).  ;D
#2) http://www.palmbeachpost.com/sports/content/sports/epaper/2006/11/05/a13b_chooptop25_1105.html?cxtype=rss&cxsvc=7&cxcat=46
lists marquette as #11 in his poll: "11. Marquette Dwyane Wade's alma mater returns a trio of perimeter players - Dominic James, Jerel McNeal and Wesley Matthews - but lacks a solid post player." with other notables being Pitt at #5, Wisc at #8, Duke at #9, Georgetown at #10, Syr at #17, and Uconn at #20.

a buffalo news article (http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20061105/2049117.asp) has marquette at #18:
"18. Marquette
What's up: A dynamic sophomore backcourt of Dominic James, Jerel McNeal and Wesley Matthews makes life tough for Big East foes. So does the work of coach Tom Crean, easily the best leader this program has had since Al McGuire.
What's down: Lazar Hayward, the former Traditional star who came from prep school, was not cleared for workouts by the NCAA until Oct. 12 and his father had been paying his tuition. The Golden Eagles need the 6-6 Hayward to score from the perimeter.
Outlook: A brutally weak non-conference schedule will create a huge cushion but Marquette will struggle against teams with strong front lines."

ugh - I hate to reply to myself once let alone twice but just realized from the buffalo news article that wisconsin not only plays us on the road December 9th but also plays pittsburgh a week later (december 16th) at home.  anyone in the area able to get to that game as a scouting trip??
