Some observations:

- Great Marquette crowd for a week night game.  A good three or four sections of the upper deck were filled with gold.  After the game the players waved towards the upper deck as they left the court.

- The Joyce Center is a complete dump but it can get very loud.  You can tell they put their money into the football program when an entire section of orange seats was repaired with blue duct tape.  The renovation they have planned is needed.

- Also, while I really dislike Harangody some of the shots he made were absolutely incredible.

EDIT: The front row of their student section painted there chest to say "Start A New Streak".  Well you dummies a new streak started tonight.

the "We Are...Marquette" was very audible on tv at the end of the game. was a great game to watch. wish i would have been there w/ you TT.

🏀

TT, can we get this We Are Marquette chant clip posted?

JSwarriors08

Yeah, it was pretty loud.  I was swelling with pride when I heard it.

Hards Alumni

towards the end of game I could hear "We are... ND" which I thought was pretty silly considering there was about 15 seconds left and they were losing... I was wondering if they were proud of getting beaten at home on national TV.

now I realize it must be a response to the "WE ARE... MARQUETTE" chant.

Absolutely.  On the first viewing, I heard the "WE ARE...ND" and I guessed/commented that they were only doing that in response to Marquette fans who I had heard cheeing loudly when DJ scored.  When I replayed it, you could clearly hear about 5 or 6 "WE ARE MARQUETTE" chants before the ND fans finally tried to drown them out.  I guess I didn't hear it the first time because I was listening to hear what I could about DJ's injury.  It was awesome.

Totally unimpressed with their students.  Only cheered their stupid three cheers (fight song, go irish, beat eagles, jig, and the arm pumping thing)  Game is tied with three minutes or so and they are silent during game play.  They only cheered when they had the lead.
Our small contingent however was very vocal.
My son was told cheering We Are Marquette showed no class!

ND fans are funny. They act like coming into their arena and cheering for the other team is sacrilege. Part of that is they hardly cheer for their team. Outside of their students, the rest of the place doesn't get that loud. Unless Harangody waves his arms.

That's funny that "We Are Marquette" is classless. I seem to remember one of their coreographed cheers containing the words "Suck it Eagles."

Yes, props to MUSCOOP.  The NDNATION might be one of the worst message boards I have ever seen. Unorganized, hard to follow a thread, etc.

Here's a thread from NDNation.com discussing the same issue:

What a bunch of whiners.

Several times last night while watching the game on ESPN I couldn't understand why ND fans would cheer an MU basket.  But then I realized there were just that many MU fans at the game.  I was impressed with the Marquette contingent I heard on the TV.

It was a good game, the better team won.  ND fans need to get over it.

MUfan12

Reading that makes me smile.

I love that Marquette has become the team that travels so well the other team's fans get ticked off. I love when the guy wrote that he hates MU fans, called us obnoxious, but then said we didn't say anything bad and were just loud.

I can't wait to take over Allstate, then see if we can match the showing of two years ago in DC. I love away games (when we win).

Officially the worst sports message board. Ever.

It's terrible.  I was especially amused by the thread where a ND fan said he wasn't too impressed with Marquette and that if a couple of Ayers' threes would have fallen, ND would have won the game "very easily."  I had to feel sorry for the rational ND fan who tried hard to explain that when you lose by seven, two extra threes will not result in winning "very easily."  He was willing to agree that maybe you'd win a close game because the two threes (while only six additional points) might change the game a bit.  But he was understandably resolute in arguing that he can't imagine that two extra three pointers would turn a seven point loss into a very easy victory.  I also liked the other poster who pointed out that MU's big four also shot below their season averages.

Reviewing the ND site keeps me grateful for such a quality site to follow and discuss our team.  Thanks MUScoop

I will give credit to a few ND posters for giving MU credit where it is due and being rational when analyzing their team.
