Announcers of the OK v. OK St. game just mentioned that there will be a discussion on Marquette on Sportscenter tonight.  He said, "Marquette just beat ND, but just how good are they? Find out on SC"

I'm watching. MU on Sportscenter is a plus, no matter what they say.

Bilas just said not only can Marquette end up in the top 3 or 4 in the BEast, but because of their schedule, they could win the thing.

High praise.

Go Warriors!

Edited to add exact quote:  "I'll tell you what, this team can absolutely play, and they are a legit threat, not only to finish in the top three or four in the Big East, but because of their schedule I think Marquette can wind up winning this thing."

SC essentially started with a 3 minute commercial on the warriors. Nice.

The report also said that Buzz has the best record for all first year D-1 basketball coaches.

MU gimp ONE

they did a really nice piece on marquette.  i was surprised with how much press we got.  i guess that's what happens when its a slow sports night and we get a big win on the road.  bilas is in love with the guards and it's awesome to hear to praise

When is the last time we were the lead story on SportsCenter?   What a Night

MuMark

Louisville has much more favorable schedule then we do.

Mirror games are WVU, ND, and SF but the big deal for them is they get UCONN, Pitt, and MU all at home.

When they reviewed the Atlanta-Miami Heat game with Wade getting 35 pts. "There is wade who starred at Marquette"

Double exposure tonight!
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

As was mentioned, during the Miami Heat's highlights and DWade's only clip, Wade is referred to as "the former Marquette star."

I love the guy...but I'll be completely honest...after the NIT in 04 and 05 (along with some of the most forgettable games in recent memory...Louisville, Western Michigan, Jean Felix)..I thought it would take much longer than 6 years to get this program back to the level that DW3 brought us.

I am by no means saying we are back to that spot yet, but tonight, 4 Marquette students - one from Richmond, one from Madison, one from Chicago, and one from Buffalo - showed up the "former Marquette star", and in the eyes of the sports media giant, were the stars of the night.

Of course I have my qualms about each player (Dom can't shoot FT, Jerel needs to make better decisions, Wesley needs a more consistent outside jumper, Lazar needs a mid-range game like tonight the rest of the season). You can say all you want about how we still have an incredibly tough road in front of us yet this the season. Please, tell me that pride comes before the fall.

But watching this team through out this season - turning it on against Cincy and WVU, The Comeback against Providence, gutting it out against a media darling team with at Player of the Year candidate - there is nothing I feel at this point in the season but pride in what this team has accomplished so far. We are 7-0 in one of the top 2 conferences, if not the top conference, in the NCAA. We are considered a top 10 team by almost every media outlet in the nation. Let me repeat that:

7-0 in conference play
Top 10 in the nation

I always hold my head up high and puff out my chest when talking about being a Marquette alum. This week, I will just be holding it a little higher and puffing out a little more.

Great coverage for MU!  Great for the university and the team.

Chicos said it best, these seniors are the most important class since...and now I say ever.  What they have done rivals Mac, Damon & Robb.  MU was in the absolute sh!tter before they showed up, we were spiraling down and if they were Brandon Bell & Dameon Mason we would have been Loyola Chicago.  What a class.

Not only did Bilas say MU could win the Big East, as reported earlier in the thread, but he also laughed at the comparison of the ACC to the Big East during first half conversation.  "there is not debate," he said in dismissing the ACC as clearly not comparable to the Big East.

So if he is right on both counts, then MU could be the champion of by far the best conference.

Go MU!  Flying up to Milwaukee Friday to cheer them on again.
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

so which does Bilas give into...his ACC pedigree or his paycheck signed by the company contractually associated with the Big East  ;D

You mean ESPN was not down on their knees for Crean putting MU on the basketball map? In fact, wasn't Crean responsible for us getting any airtime at all and for plucking Wade out of the trash basket and turning him into a playa?

MR.HAYWARD

4ever you got it all wrong....TC is not responsible for getting us on ESPN he is actually responsible for getting in the BE, the TV covergae is just a perk.

TC is laso the only one to get fans to come to MU games.  Remember no 18,000+ crowds before TC or since....ooooops that one was debunked long ago and again this past Saturday.

Also TC taught Buzz the zone offense last year so he really deserves the credit for that too.  Our zone offense against Nova, WVU, Rutgers, Prov., and Now ND is the best it has been in 10 years at MU...thanks....TC?
