When this discussion comes up, is there any reason Dominick James name should not be mentioned almost immediately?

Talk about the total package...He runs the offense, doesn't turn it over, can score, best defender on the team, he can rebound, he's very strong with freakish leaping ability to offset the lack of height. Did I miss anything?

You cannot be considered a top point guard in the country when your team deliberately does not have you handle the ball down the stretch in close games. James' FT shooting is a huge liability to this team.

He doesn't get mentioned because he can't shoot.  You don't necessarily have to be a great shooter like say Diener to get the publicity, but you have to have some shooting ability, and his shooting has been bad for years.

James is shooting 43% from the field, 48% from the line and 31% from 3.  Compare him to say Darren Collison who is at 53%, 95% and 42%.  Or Ty Lawson who is at 53%, 77% and 47%.  Or Jeff Teague who is at 54%, 83% and 53%.

He needs to pick up his shooting, especially from the foul line to get mentioned like he did a few years ago.

I still think the inability of teams to ever steal to ball from him at the point, and his incredible lock down defense should have him in the best PG discussion.  I have done all the TV packages this year, and don't think there is any other PG in the country who is nearly as good a passer as Dominic this year.  If you are helping 3 other guys put up the kind of points they are this year, many off his incredible passes, and you can re-adjust every defense by taking two steps as though you are driving, then I don't think you need to be able to shoot to be among the best few PG in the land this year.

Again, 9-0 assists to turnovers in first half today.

Dom is a sick passer, ballhandler and leader for this team.  As I mentioned in another thread, every player has flaws and his FT % is low.  So what, he makes up for it.  Stop being bitches and appreciate what he adds to our team.  Without Dom we are a lot worse hands down.

TJ Ford couldn't shoot a lick... he was player of the year Wade's second season... ridiculous.

As a freshman he was a scorer and that is how people remember him. He has developed into a really good passer and defender, but if you do not see him play all you remember is a scorer that is averaging an umipressive 10 points a game as a senior.

Dominic is a great passer, ball handler and defender who makes his teammates better. This all leads to him being a great pg. But the fact is that he just can't shoot FT. This doesn't mean that he is not a great player, because he is. But it does mean that he will never be mentioned in the discussion of the best pg's in the country.
