Can you imagine if this kid had stuck around? He would be starting over Burke and giving us a valuable presence inside and on the glass. He recently committed to Tubby Smith at Minnesota. He currently is averaging 12.4 boards a game (3rd in NCJAA) for Miami Dade (I couldn't find his scoring numbers).

Really?  This post?  Good God.

1.) What on God's green earth did TM show you last year that he would have started over Burke?
2.) Burke has played out his arse this season.
3.) TM is playing at a community college level.
4.) TM is a bitch, he left like a bitch, and when he goes to Minnie he will be bitch there too.

No use wasting our time on someone who clearly did not want to be here or as I always like to say...someone who couldn't cut it at MU. I'd rather have Hazel.

I'm not saying he would be all Big East or even scoring more than five points. But if you don't think that Mbakwe would be an upgrade over Burke athletically and skill set then your crazy. People post rediculous things about what would happen if we had Blake Griffen or Dejuan Blair. I'm just theorizing about what would have happened if Mbakwe had decided to stay.

A) Mbakwe was playing on a bum leg and could hardly walk let alone be as explosive as he truly is.
B) I don't care how hard Burke plays, its still questionable whether he's deserving to be in the Big East let alone a starter.
C) When he's putting up numbers at Minnesota don't be surprised.

I think its a valid thing to think about because we HAD the guy.  Its hard to be better than 5-0 in the Big East right now but with Trevor's skill set we would have a better time weathering the cold shooting night that most certainly will come AND we'd match up better on paper against the cream of the BE which I must remind everyone we have yet to play.
With Trevor this team is a valid threat to win it all.

HAHA WHAT?!  Trevor Mbakwe?!  The sophomore who wouldn't have even been starting?!  If we would've been a valid threat to win it all with him on the team, then we are currently a valid threat to win it all.  He definitely would not have hurt to have had, but if you really think he could start at CENTER in the Big East then you are badly mistaken.  He was 6'5"!  It wasn't Hasheem Thabeet transferring out of here!  A 6'5" raw athlete!

MarquetteFan94

Why in the world would we bring this up at this point?  So, if that freeloader stuck around would we be 18-0 instead of 16-2?!  I would take a healthy and hungry Dwight Burke and Patrick Hazel (both of which want to be here) over a kid who used the University and it's Division 1 facilities/resources to rehab his knee then ditched those that made an unconditional commitment to him three days before the fall semester started any day of the week.

I'm not sure TM could help us weather a cold shooting night....is he going to out rebound and out muscle Samuels, Monroe, Harangody, Onaku, Adrien, Thabeet, Blair, etc....at 6'7"?!  No way.  This team cannot weather a cold shooting night with or without TM...unless we're living at the line.

TM was a waste of our time and energy....good riddance.  I love our team right now....as is.

Oh, Aaron. Such a foolish post. Welcome to the board.

Mbakwe is gone, Crean is gone.  Its over, kaput, done, enough.

BTW, how good would this team be with Scott Christopherson?

mviale

TM would be taking costly minutes away from Patrick Hazel.  Hazel has doubled TM's output from LY.
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

What if TM had been a real pain in the ass in the locker room?

What if he had unrealistic expectations, wanted the ball all the time and pouted when he didn't get it?

What if he got in a fist fight with Wes or Lazar and they'd broken a knuckle on his thick skull?

The post is just fine. Putting up rediculous stuff is kinda what we do. But, in this case, the downside to having a head case who attended 3 high schools and is on the way to at least 3 colleges might have been more likely.

TBok wasnt tough enough for the BEAST mentally or physically, let it go and just enjoy the high level that THIS team (aka the guys that WANT to be here) is playing at.

legacy

My only memory of this guy was for inspiring the world's longest muscoop thread, where we traded jokes about how great he was.  This was before he wound up playing and showed us essentially nothing.  Now our only consolation is that the guy lost a year of eligibility for that wasted effort.

MR.HAYWARD

not really sure how many mintues he would be getting ...clearly would be behind Burke no question and would probably be getting HAzels minutes.  Next year he would be a bench player rarely getting time.  He is no dummy and with McMorrow and Otule and the signing s of williams and Mymon sw the writing on the wall, ie no minutes.  he was a 6'7" center with no ball handling or shooting skilss and would be the 3rd string center and 3rd string PF next year.  Cant blame the kid for bolting just the way he handled it.

All I was trying to say is that Mbakwe would be a nice upgrade over Burke. If you deny that then you don't know/realize how poor of a player Dwight Burke really is. I didn't realize everyone was so "hurt" by Mbakwe deciding he didn't want to play for a coach no one had heard of. Why all the hate?

If Mbakwe were here, Robert Frozena would not be on scholarship.  That is the one of the best things about Trebor leaving is that Buzz used the open scholly for Robert, someone who works his ass off for the program every day and doesn't complain.

mviale

TM was a recruit that would not happen under the Buzz regime. Just like the TRend signing, TC was desperate to show he could recruit a big other than scott merritt.  Good job TC!

Upgrade?  explain.  Because you saw some youtube clips of him in high school?  No way he could play defense as well as Burke this year, and it's not like we need any more offense from the big fella because we have four starters that are nearly averaging 15 pts a clip.

PS: How funny would it be if this Awergryzn17 character was actually TM?  That makes me laugh.  ;D

Does this mean that RF's scholarship could not be renewed for next year, thereby freeing it up for JW or the big stiff visiting this weekend?

In the end, I really question how motivated TM would have been as he seemed to have too many "advisors" in his ear.

No.  All schollies are renewed each year and Frozena's will not be renewed and it has already been given to one of the incoming players
