I watched the Badgers game last night and had the misfortune of listening to the call of Wayne Larivee.  What a balloon juice doufus.  While Iowa was missing two of its final four free throws he was reading his stat sheet on how well they shot free throws.  He is the Eddy Hightower of play by play men,  Wayne no one is watching because of you but rather in spite of you.  He's no Homer.

I hope the Badgers win out so the victory over them does not lose any more of its luster.

I still can't stand Wayne doing play-by-play for the Packers after all those years of having to listen to him call the Bears games down here in Illinois.

Got to hand it to him though, he seems to be one of the hardest working radio sportscasters out there.  Just wish he'd call another team rather than the Pack.

I'll take the contrarian point of view. I actually think he does a good job.  He also isn't all about making himself the center of attention.

Larivee - great at football, basketball not so much.  He's come a long way since he first started doing Bulls games, but he should stick to football.

Agreed, I think he does a wonderful job with the Packers but isn't the greatest for basketball.

Was it radio or television?  Because basketball as a whole is awful to listen to, in baseball or football you can follow the game and visualize whats happening.  In basketball the ball moves to quickly and its painful to listen to, you have no idea what the eff is going on?  Homer isn't the best either, and when Jimmy Mac gets going you can miss an entire possession.

Wayne should stick to the Pack, for which he does an incredible job.  I have grown up listening to him and Larry.  I turn the volume on the TV off and turn them on during Packer games.  Great stuff, gotta be a bears/vikings fan not to think so.

Wayne and Larry can't hold a candle to Jim and Max.

Yeah, I thought it was funny when he kept talking about the Iowa guy's 97% FT shooting percentage, and then he went on to miss two of his last four.

BTW, outside of the fact that the Badgers lost, the best part about last night's game was the occasional shots of Jason Bohannon's mom.  Quite the MILF.

Jim and Max rocked!  Half the time Max sounded like he was in the bag by the time the 4th quarter rolled around.

I'm biased against Laravee because I can't stand the Bears being a Packers fan living in F.I.B. country.  I also give Jeff Joniak lots of crap about some of his calls - he's a neighbor of mine.  (God, I finally sound like Chicos.... help me!)

I know it's been said but Jim Irwin and Max McGee were far and away better. Why? Because they were homers. The problem with Larivee is that he's so used to calling neutral games during the Big Ten football season that some of that neutral bias starts to spread into his Packers broadcasts. I guarantee you will never hear another announcer get as excited as Wayne does when the opposing team does something good. I know he doesn't mean it, but I hate it! This should probably go into the SB.

We will have enough wins besides UW, so we do not need them to be a good victory. I rather see them continue to lose, except for when they play Indiana.

Neutral bias? That would probably be the definition of an oxymoron.

I would agree with the general consenus here that Laravee is good with radio FB but very poor with basketball on TV. And baseball, too. He did some fill-ins for the Cubs in the 90s and was about as bad at that as he was with buckets.
