Such poop D and we pulled through.  You have to love the leadership.

I can't believe it, either. Providence shot 55 percent but didn't play any D, either. Terrific comeback on the road. 5-0 feels great!

augoman

this was one of my 'must's, so I was really sweating it.  Lazar was killer.

Big Papi

I don't think anyone but the MU players are stunned by this outcome.  McDermott looked like he had tears at the end of the game.  I can't believe we stole that game.  Defense finally came through in the last 8 minutes of the game. Huge win.

buckchuckler

Lazar was huge, can't believe we pulled that one out.  We didn't play any D for 30 minutes.

MUFan71

10 points allowed in the last 10 minutes good D when it counted.

Badgerhater

I damn near shut this game off....just looked like PU was going to keep that 13 10-13 point lead then suddenly it was 7 and I decided to give it another chance.   Watched too many MU games where they would get it to 7 and then give it right back and its 13.   Then it was five...... then they are up 6!

Glad Lazar saved up two games worth of kicking ass so he could deliver tonight.

Huge rebound by Aaker that triggered the nice fast break towards the end.  He jumped as high as James on that one.

I surely wasn't impressed with our D, but did anyone else feel like MU was not allowed to play D.  It seemed everytime Providence put the ball on the floor it was a foul on MU.  When Buzz when small and we took a step off of a few guys it seemed to make a big difference.  The zone seemed to help with penetration as well.  I thought it was a great win.

MarquetteDano

This is just a great game.  A team shoots the lights out... some bad D on our end, some ridiculous shots.  Yet, we still win it and it wasn't a nail biter at the end!  Plus, Fulce got major quality minutes.

Other than the injury on Xavier, nothing but a great things from this game.

Daniel

It was a great win - but weird.  We are an undersized team.  Then Buzz goes small (no Burke, no Hazel, no Otule anywhere) and when he does things start happening and we are in the lead.  Weird.  We had our smallest team on the floor, and we were great defensively when it counted.  OMG - I could hardly satand watching - my family near cleared out of the room here in the first half lol.

GO MARQUETTE!  This was won on the court - the seniors and Lazar - wow - they just know where the toehr is going to be and delivered.  Awesome.  And Buzz did some nice subbing that worked.  Whew.

MR.HAYWARD

agreed our defense was matadorish at best our rebounding was even worse.  When they occasoinally did miss the rbounded and scored.  Our best defense for 30-35 minutes was making them shoot FT's!!!

But as was said they did not really stop us either adn we hit a few shot and were able to make it a 5 minute game and stole one.  One very frustrting thing was after Wes and LAzar tied it Jerel decided it was his turn with two very poor possesions.  After that we had a TO and it seemed Buzz told jerel lets not forgot how we got back in this!!

KUdos to Buzz for going with Acker and Fulce and small ball Burke and HAzel could not keep up them.

Lastly, I think the best thing for Providence is just for this group of seniors to graduate.  They are so mentally soft and have never lived up to their talent, they cost the coach that recruited them his job and it seemed like maybe Keno had gotten them to turn the corner but alas this group simply seems mental ...scizophrenic

Big Papi

Providence's free throw shooting definitely helped us win this game.

You are right extremely frustrating it seemed they called a foul on ecvery drive.  but they wer ebeating us, they had #2 playing power forward at 6'4" and he is really good off the bounce.  we could not stay in front of them.  Credit goes to them...and credit goes to Buzz for getting quiccker team in their we stopped their drives and got absolutely merdered on the galss but it worked.  at one point they showed at stat that they had 10 second half rebounds to our 1!!  we definitely out rebounded them in the last 6-7 minutes tho. !!!   I think Fulce is a keeper!!

AZWarrior

A 22 point turn-around.  Wow.  Oh, wow.
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

This game reminded me of the Dayton game for the first 30 minutes. I glad we have another week off, I need the rest.

ATWizJr

Although we did play poorly defensively for 30 minutes, we played shut down "D" the last 10 minutes and look at the turnover differential 18-10 in our favor.

Also, shooting 45% from beyiond the arc was huge.  I was at the game and was pretty worried when we were down 13 but the guys came roaring back with what amounted to a small 5 guard line up.  Great win!  This team has great senior leaders, great heart and looked very quick on occasion.

are you serious mr hayward, and right after that mcneal hits a huge 3 to add on to the lead lol, i dont think buzz said anything like that, for 2 reasons, 1 he was a part of how we got back in it, and for 2 buzz knows who the man is!!! yeah

They played to their strength....and it worked.  Big props to Mo Acker.  He's not going to give you much offense, but he was fantastic on the defensive end.  Give it to Buzz for pushing the right buttons until they found something that worked.

We had a number of empty possesions because of McNeal at crucial times, and while he shot a good percentage, he continues to force his shot at times, turn the ball over and fail to use his dribble and offense threat to set up other players at key times (like when Lazar is on fire).  I guaruntee one "knock" on him come draft time is his decision making.  He is surely playing GREAT basketball, and we've won games because of his play, but he could take it to another level by playing smarter.

Couldn't have said it better myself. It was very Daytonish.

Yeah, the one possession that really puzzled me was the great block he had on the defensive end, got the ball, than went full court by himself one on three and he had trailers that he could've dished to, but went in for the miss.  Not smart.

Thomas' Danish Delight

In the second half, Acker's glue defense on Curry reminded me of Tyronne Lue on Allen Iverson back in the 200something finals between the Lakers and Sixers.  Totally threw they guy off his game.

And man oh man, as Joe Alexander would say, the 'clearance' on one of Acker's rebounds was ridiculous.

Great game.  Wowzers.
