I just moved out to the D.C. area (Arlington to be exact) and I need to know my viewing options for MU games. Obviously, the games on nationally on ESPN are not a problem...but what about the games that are scheduled for the Big East Network/Full Court/Time Warner Sports 32?

We have standard Comcast right now, nothing special. Will I get any of these games be on TV?

If not, any suggestions as to where to watch the games?

Thanks in advance.

Norm

GOMU1104,

Penn Quarter Sports tavern is the viewing site for the DC alumni group this year. There is a group gathering this Sunday for the Cincinnati game. Details are below:

Join the Marquette Club of Washington, DC as we watch our Marquette Men's Basketball Team team take on Arch-rival University of Cincinnati Bearcats.

Sunday, January 4
2:00pm Tip-Off

Penn Quarter Sports Tavern
639 Indiana Avenue NW
Washington, DC

Penn Quarter Sports Tavern is located near the intersection of 7th and Constitution, across the street from the Navy Memorial/Archives Metro (Green and Yellow Line), three blocks from Gallery Place (Red Line) and four blocks from Federal Triangle (Blue and Orange Line). It also provides decent access to the highway (that's for you, Virginia) and given its downtown location, there are parking garages galore (or at least of few of them to choose from). Additional information about Penn Quarter Sports Tavern can be found here: http://www.dcsportstavern.com/.

Welcome to Arlington.  Glad to know there's another MU newbie to the area along with me.  I just moved out here in September.

I'm in Arlington too...

Typically Penn Quarter has at least one tv reserved for the game. I wasn't there for the Nova or Cincy games, but the non-conference games (except for UWM) had pretty low attendance #'s. That being said, the crowd that does show up is a lot of fun and knows how to make some noise.

Anyone else not like having to go to Penn Quarter when (based off of my knowledge), there's a good portion of us MU alums that live in Arlington / Alexandria?  Us MUScoopers should get together and come up with a local place.

Just my $.02.

Meh...I really don't have that big of a problem with it...You are never going to make everyone happy with the bar selection - if you make it on the Blue line, people on the Orange line won't come because of the transfer (and vice versa). When it was at Crystal City all last year I never went because it was too much work getting there. Penn Quarter works because its less than a 10 minute walk from all 5 metro lines.

Plus, the Fried Mac and Cheese at Penn Quarter is outstanding - I would go there for it even if MU wasn't playing.

Spoken like a true Wisconsinite.

I enjoyed watching the game at Penn Quarter. Since I am very new to the area, I really don't have any favorite spots as of yet. I will be going there as often as I can to watch the games.

Like Foreverwarriors said...you cant please everyone.

Come for the Georgetown game MUfan, and you too will know their gloriousness.

I am an MU alum born and Raised in Arlington, You all should try Bailey's in Ballston Commons Mall, try and set something up with the owner they already host a few other Midwest schools for football but form my experience many stay away during basketball season, They can accommodate any group size.

There were some viewing events at Bailey's about 5 years ago - not much attendance. The ones at Summers in the Courthouse area seemed to draw okay, but that was for big games like Wisconsin.

I would recommend the Hawk-N-Dove or somewhere else on Capitol Hill, as that is close to the Les Aspin Institute and you could have some of the MU students out there interning on the Hill make it to some games. (By the way, the Hawk is the Packers bar on Sundays.)
