Alright, who's making the trek to the music city tuesday night? i'm coming from indiana, i hope to see some yellow in the crowd. anyone who is familiar with nashville have any suggestions for places to go, bars, attractions, etc.?

MUWeb7

I'll be there. We got a group of four. Look for the Marquette flag behind one of the baskets. No idea on bars or anything. We might just try to take over a vandy bar since our hotel is near the campus and a mile or so from the arena.

I'll be there, probably wearing my powder blue "Warriors" shirt.

The Alumni association is putting on a pre-game event near the Somet Center...I think I'll check it out.

My Two Cents...

Vandy kids don't really have a bar, they are all into going to whatever bar is trendy that day.

I would recommend several options depending on what you are looking for...
1. Roberts Western Room - Cheap Beer, good live music, not as many tourists.
2. Lonnies (Printers Alley)- Karoke, $14 buckets of 6, good "talent"
3. Dan McGuiness - Irish Pub on Music Row (Trendy Area) about 1 mile from Vandy
4. Villager in Hillsboro Village - Reminds me of Wolski's, metal darts, smoky, small, but enjoyable.  Closest to your hotel.

Options 1 & 2 are right downtown and none of these options are more than a $10 cab ride from Vandy.

Other Options for the tourist in you
1. Coyote Ugly on 2nd Ave
2. Tootsies - right across from the sommet, crowded, a little more expensive than the normal Honky Tonk, and the occasional celebrity.
3. Flying Saucer - 100+ beers on tap, Catholic School girl employee dress code, and decent food.

And I will be joining Army in Section 108.

thanks for the info mub2002. i know a vandy alum and he told me about a couple places if anyone is interested:
there's an area known as printer's alley (near 4th ave., between union and commerce streets i'm told) which apparently has a lot of local flavor, in terms of bars. other than that i don't really know what nashville has to offer, i'm sure there's a lot of interesting stuff out there though, considering the character this city has

Lonnie's, that I mentioned earlier, is in Printer's Alley.  Right across from the Brass Stables (which compares to Art's Performing Art Center)  Printers Alley is very close to the Sommet.

So what did the visitors think of the bar scene in Nashville?

MUWeb- Congrats. If that was your flag in the corner that our bench was on, you made the shot everytime someone was taking a foul shot (is this term to hoosiers era?). It was nice to see on ESPN. It was the blue new MU logo.

That was MUWeb and crew with the flag. We found a section that didn't have any fans in it and took it over with MU fans. We came over from all different section in the arena to be in that section (somehow they never came and asked for tickets because none of us had a ticket for that section). We also had a very drunk TN fan behind us all game who eventually took a swing at an MU kid and got himself arrested.

Highlight of the game...or not. Every team has some bad apple fans. It was very unfortunate that this [drunk] fellow decided to waste our time and heckle us...

On a better note, we had many Tennessee fans approach us after the game to shake our hands. I was very impressed by the hospitality shown by their fans and the people of Nashville. We stood in our seats holding up the flag until our team walked off the court.

The bar scene was pretty decent. Definitely had a soft spot for the southern gal accent.   ;D  The bars are definitely different than what you'll find around here. The lights all down Printer's Alley was pretty cool, really added a "wow" factor. The insides of the bars were a bit dirty compared to mke, but almost every bar had live music. Very cool. I would like to go back to Nashville when I have more time to spend out on the town...especially on a weekend.

The Tenn Fans around us were actually very hospitable.  In fact, I was more embarrassed by the drunk MU fan in our section than the other Tenn fans.  You'll always have a few a$$ hole fans but most of the Tenn was represented the school well...wish we would have won but that's another story.
