What concerns you most about this year's team?

D. James inconsistency
Free throw shooting
Half-court offense
Inside game
Offensive Tempo
Outside shooting

Not trying to dwell on the negative here.  Not saying we can't still have a good year.

There are some prevailing theories around and I am trying to determine which has the most votes.

my most concerning thing with the team is the inconsistency of DJ.... he is the leader, or is suppose to be the leader, leaders have to stay consistent, to set a standard for the rest of the team.  He isn't doing that

this to me is a no brainer... it has to be the half court offense... Its slow non-moving... dribbling dribbling then a 30 footer. Marquette has yet to find a rhythm to their game ecspecailly on the offensive end. Believe it or not you can cut and screen against a zone. Marquette can't even do that. They dribble around expecting holes to open up. No weak side swing. No slash and dish. No one is filling the lanes...

Its time to go back to the Chalk Board and give'r a different go.

CLEARLY the reason we're doing poorly at home is because of a lack of Freeway dancing in the stands.

Where oh where has our Freeway gone?  Seriously.  Do we need to put up some sort of Bat-signal?

I went with half-court offense.  I know they're not facing a zone, but watching Wisconsin's offense against Ohio State compared to what I've seen Marquette run many times this year is like day and night.  Every player is moving somewhere, they set screens inside of 20 feet, and even up big they don't dribble in one spot for 20 seconds.  Their guards rarely ever stay outside the 3-point line an entire possession as they're looking for backdoor cuts or post-ups or setting picks instead of standing still or weaving across for a worthless pass.

I think every other option on the poll results for the most part on the poor half court offense.  It's pretty hard to speed up the tempo when there's a 15 second timeout taken every time they get in a half-court set as there's rarely any motion.  The inside-outside games are also results of the half-court set not getting anyone great looks.  For the most part three-pointers are forced up by desperation, and the inside game is the result of the big men either standing still or pulling out to set a pick in an area that eliminates them as an offensive threat. The bigs never go up with authority or initiate contact and Fitzgerald has been passing up on his threes, but when the flow of the offense is so poor every shot becomes more desperate and feels more out of sync.  If the offense is pouring in points Fitzgerald's stroke becomes much more loose and the bigs aren't afraid of showing some strength instead of being afraid to turn the ball over and staying away from an offensive mindset.  James may be part of the cause of the poor offense, but it does work both ways, and getting the half-court offense working will get James working too.

i have a new option for MU's shortcomings: transition/fast break offense!!!! i know this wouldn't solve all the problems. but does anyone remember last year when DJ or JM would lead the break and no one knew HOW it would end, but that it would be something exciting that ole MU would benefit from? it was nice having novak as a fail safe when the fast break didn't work, but MU is not running like they should be considering their athletes
