I was just confused on why we did not change up the defense to give Dayton a different look. We kept with man to man the whole game and they scored 89 points on us. I know they shot 36.4% from 3 point land but they only attempted 11 threes. Dayton was more of a slashing team and I did not understand why we did not try going zone because that would have slowed them down from driving and kicking the ball to the open guy. Nothing was going our way so I thought we should have tried it because we never know how they would have responded and we are a very quick team so we could have gotten a few steals and made more of the game a half court game. Hopefully our defense will step up for our next game and help lead us to a victory. Let's just remember it was only one game and now we know where we need to improve and have got the bad out of us now before conference starts.

The ironic thing is that Dayton's base offense is the MSU weave.  Their gameplan, though, was to try and out run us.  We should have zone trapped them to slow them down and then tried a match-up zone (just like the BE teams employ on us).  We need to try something else on D.  I know Buzz is trying to get energy for our O via D, but we are very vulnerable with our backline (height and depth) right now...and TN/other BE teams can match our quickness like Dayton did.

And lose the five guard line-up.

There were a bunch of guys on this board chewing me out for freaking out when Buzz mentioned running a 5 guard set.

I thought about this as well, as I was thinking about what Buzz could have done last night. Switching up to a zone was one of those options, but I have a feeling if he did do that, we'd all be on here bitching about second chance points.
