Whats up? I thought these automatically posted? Something to do with the new JS design? (which sucks, by the way)

Brace yourselves for this first one  >:(

While not good news, Buzz's comments are absolutely refreshing. He tells it like it is up front. He explains the team's situations, problems, and what they need to do. Every comment is original and not the tired spiel that I'm used to.

Yeah - their new design doesn't include RSS feeds - which kinda' hosed our ability to pull them in.  We thought we had a workaround in place, but now that's not working either.  Ugh.  We'll keep working on it.

Thanks for posting them in the meantime.

Not good news on McMorrow, but the Fulce news is downright terrible - we need (or may need) him right away.  Buzz's stress level has to be through the roof.

MilWarrior

We really need some good news around here. Missing Fulce against UW and UT will definitely hurt. I can see foul trouble being a real problem in both of those games as UW is big and well coached and always seems to get to the line a ton against us. UT is super athletic and will pose match-up problems. This stinks.

I thought Buzz's comments might be a bit too candid. I think he could use a little more "coach speak" when speaking to the media, even if it is Rosiak. How quickly will opposing coaches use this line when negatively recruiting against MU - "Because when he gets back healthy, whatever time that is in February, we ain't paying attention to him."

Taken out of context, as any shrewd coach will do, it doesn't read well. Buzz needs to be careful. It may be refreshing, but it may also end up being damaging.

I begining to think Fulce is one of those people bad luck follows arround. Sign's out of high school and then has to go to prep. Signs with NO and Buzz leaves, so he goes to JC. Signs third time with Buzz and gets injured. He reminds me of Kinsella.

Hards Alumni

Kinsella was terrible though.

anyway, this could be him overstating the injury only to have the players back early... a tactic.

mu_hilltopper

Bite your tongue.  Kinsella was awesome, just poorly placed at the 5.  He should have been free ranging, shootin' 3s!

Hards Alumni

no, I will not, he was not good.

he was Novak without the talent.

3 out of the 4 Marquette injuries are the result the body being overworked...two stress reactions and an achilles strain.  I wonder if Williams is regretting putting these players through a two-week boot camp.

Buzz probably should have coddled them into basketball shape.

He had 2-1/2 months to get them into shape, why do it in two weeks?

I know that he was trying to build team unity and everything but now he is paying for it.

Like all athletes, I believe plenty tend to slack off when they are not under full supervision to be working out. I'm sure they workouts were mostly playing ball in the rec, not stamina and speed training.

ErickJD08

I don't get it.  Percentage-wise, I think more guys get hurt at MU basketball than the two-a-days in college football in many programs.  Do we pick up guys who are injury prone?  Didn't Erik Williams get hurt last year?  Oh well...

I believe due to NCAA regulations coaches interaction and supervision with players is limited during the offseason...hence the importance of Midnight Madness...so technically he didn't have 2 and a half months.  All basketball programs in the country have relatively intense practices the first couple weeks you may be taking the term BOOT CAMP a little too literally.

nola03

I agree with the thinking that the injuries are related to the body being overworked. Building team spirit is great; let's just hope we didn't tear down bodies in the process.
Also, put me down in the category along with other posters that saw some of his quotes as strange and scattered.

The previous coach is reviled for running too tight a ship and creating tension. The new guy is praised for running a disciplined ship that feels less tense. Seems to me the last six months have seen more drama then any six month stint since 1999.

I am unsure of how much practice time is allowed with the players during the offseason; I know that some conditioning and skills sessions are allowed.

Buzz's Boot Camp ended on October 14th, which was 3 days before the official start of basketball practice per NCAA rules (October 17th).
