Just wondering if anyone has a go-to speech after a big time loss in a big game.

I just watched my 8th grade girls lose in about the worst way I have ever seen a volleyball loss (granted I don't watch volleyball as much as basketball)... but the way they loss ranks up there with last year MU-Stanford game.

Just wondering if anyone has any good speeches (maybe by Al) that I could possibly hand out to the girls tomorrow that might brighten their day, I am expecting the worse.

To end your season by a 6 point rally from the other team to end your playoff game... it was heartbreaking to watch.

Anything would help, thanks.

We're going inside of 'em, we're going outside of 'em -- inside of 'em! outside of 'em! -- and when we get them on the run once, we're going to keep 'em on the run. And we're not going to pass unless their secondary comes up too close. But don't forget, men -- we're gonna get 'em on the run, we're gonna go, go, go, go! -- and we aren't going to stop until we go over that goal line! And don't forget, men -- today is the day we're gonna win. They can't lick us -- and that's how it goes... The first platoon men -- go in there and fight, fight, fight, fight, fight! What do you say, men!

yeah, I don't think I can hand that one out to them... although it would do the trick.

Winning is overrated. The only time it is really important is in surgery and war.
--Al McGuire

I heard Al speak many times...one thing that always stuck with me was that he said he never tried to dwell on a loss or the reasons why.  He felt that was time wasted--he rather spend his energy figuring out how to win tomorrow.  MJ was the same way.  Most athletes sit at their stall and hem and haw on what they should have done in their losing effort.  MJ would just say, "they got us today, but look out for tomorrow."  The last I looked, the sun always rises in the East.

That said, a little Lee Elia on YouTube always warms the soul.
