Would have been nice to have someone come in and be able to knock down the outside shot. Unfortunately Blackledge is a project, and with JUCO's there's not enough time to rely on projects.

Sunday became much, much bigger tonight. I cringe at the thought of our offense against their zone, let alone trying to contain Nichols, Harris, and Roberts.

Agreed with everything you said.  Sunday has become a lot bigger of a game.

Ok, hate me for saying this, but Amo would of been a huge help.  Besides having an outside shot, he had a big frame to muscle in with Providence and good court presence.  To bad he left, he definately would of got his minutes in this year.

I was actually thinking the exact same thing last night but didn't have the balls to mention it.  I don't know the whole behind the scenes story and would love to find out but he would have been a good fit at the 4 this year.  Better than Fitz.

You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

I agree, I don't like to live in the past.  But Amo was one we had.  So on to this year.  I want to see Fitz, Ooze, Trend, Lott, Burke, Kinsella and Hayward do a great job.  If they can't get the job done, no one will.

MU71

We had Mason too who could rebound!  Tough to stay consistent when you lose your blue chip recruit 2 years in a row.  Yeah, yeah, yeah players transfer in Div 1 but when you're moving up the ladder and have a blue chipper you have to keep him.  The transfer of peripheral players can be tolerated but not key players.

mviale

I still think our BIG 3 are much better than any of the beforementioned players.  The point is that it is Big 3, not Big 2 vs. PC

Are "Big 3" are MUCH better....that's debatable especially if you look at team needs.  I hold that Amo and Mason are much better rebounders than any of our "Big 3" and also better outside shooters.  They would have rounded out our team nicely.  A team that can do nothing but penetrate is not much of a team.

mviale

Mcneil would have benched Mason and Amo would have caused chemistry issues.  Amo had one good game and that was his career.

Mason and McNeal would not have competed - Mason and Matthews would have and wouldn't that have been a nice 2-headed #3, one of who would have added some senior stability?  As for Amo, when you recruit a guy with talent as your prime recruit one year you better find a way to get something out of him.  No one has a game like Amo did without having talent and lots of it.  The talents he brought to the table are the talents we need this year. We need to find a way to get it out of players like him.  That's part of being a successful coach.

and will be dust in the wind with Fisher.

I guess we won't know until he laces up next year.

you're right...athletes never just have one good game in their career.  ::)

But I like to throw handfuls...

Have fun watching SD ST.  I will be watching MU at madison square garden

Not saying I'd rather be watching SD St - just sayiong I think I'd have a lot more fun watching MU with a nice big talented body on the court.

What about Takias Brown playing at Georgia now? He is a force down low and even put up a double double on the Badgers. I remember us recruiting him hard...

MUfan12

If I remember right Brown had serious question marks academically, which is why we backed off.

anyone need a reminder about Mason's capabilities - see LSU vs. Uconn on espn.

1-8 shooting (0-2 threes), 3-4 from the line, 1 board 1 assist in 23 minutes.

mviale

lets put that one quietly to bed, Matthews and Mcneil are clearly improvements and his presence would have caused needless BS as he is an upperclassman that some would prefer on this roster.

Masons talents were on display last night. It was evident to me that a year off of college hoops didn't give him a left handed dribble

no help from long range, but could use his scoring.
