Cheering a big injury to a fellow conference member? Well, lets just say that's not a very kind statement......

Pretty sure all of Rico's posts should be taken seriously and at face value.

Maybe someday he'll have the same level-headed takes and love this program as much as Willie does.

Yes, teal shouldn't be necessary on Unk's posts (or mine), but alas, some folks must be new here.

I'm not sure what you're talking about.

Willie loves #MUBB. His pennant, regardless of its location, proves it.

Rico loves the midrange and Wojo.

Repole will take some horse racing winnings and go find them a Euro to replace him this season.

I don't think they can.  They've already signed 15 for this season.  I think it's too late for them to cut someone to make room.

they can medically exempt the Syracuse kid since the injury happened before the roster declaration date so he won't count against the roster limits for this season (Basketball submits their roster the day before the first contest):

17.2.2.3 Exception -- Season Ending Injury or Illness Before Roster Submission Date. A student-athlete who sustains a medically documented season-ending injury or illness before the sport's roster submission date may continue to use institutional facilities and resources for rehabilitation purposes and may participate in practice activities, when medically cleared, during the academic year without counting in the sport's roster limit. The student-athlete may not participate in competition that is considered in individual or team selections for postseason opportunities and may not participate in postseason competition.

St. John's will be interesting this season. The Freeman injury doesn't hurt their starting five much IMHO. You take him out and you sub in Dordije Jovanovic or Ian Jackson in to the starting five and you don't drop off much. But it does hurt their depth.

Rick typically uses an eight man rotation with a couple of depth pieces getting into some but not all games. They have a clear top 6 with Ellis at the point, Tounde and Jackson at the 2/3, Babacar and Jovanovic at the 3/4, and analytics darling Ruben Prey at the 5.

But who fills in those last two spots in the rotation? Pohto and Konstantindis were essentially walk ons last season. Avery Brown was a meh starter on a bad Columbia team. Kyle Cuffe Jr is only there because he's the son of former Johnnie star Kyle Cuffe. The younger Cuffe didn't even start most of his games at Mercer last season.

Rick will need two of Theo Edema, Lazar Stojkovic, Gildas Gimenez, and Lefteris Liotopoulos to pan out. Rick isn't known for trusting freshmen with major minutes. Edema reclassed from the 27 class, it'll be a big ask for him to be rotation ready. Stojkovic and Gimenez have some Euro youth experience but my understanding is that both were signed as long term projects. Liotopoulos hasn't shown much in two years as a back of the bench player in Queens.

I already wasn't sure about this year's iteration of the Red Storm. Before the injury, they looked more like a fringe top 25 team than a final four contender to me. Without Freeman, I think they're still a tournament team, but I think they finish behind UConn, Nova, PC, and us in the BEast....unless Billy's understanding is correct and they can make room on their roster to buy another Euro to replace him.

Have not looked at Slick Ricks roster, but from the names mentioned above, he must be spending lots of time overseas for his recruiting. Is there a Porcinos 2 in Italy?
