Not at all. Based on what we saw last year, he's clearly the biggest upside NBA prospect on the team. I'd still have him as the 5th or 6th best college player, but Chase has sophomore year Jimmy in him. Not the best player on the team, but a better pro prospect than the all conference guys in front of him.

Not saying he can't get there, but it's a massive jump for a guy who doesn't do anything exceptionally right now and isn't physically/athletically imposing at the next level (yet).

He's a year away from draft talk, much less lottery discussion.

But then again, this is the wishlist thread and I'm sure my kids will ask for crazy things from Santa this year too.

Frankly, I hope Chase is better as a Marquette sophomore than Jimmy was.

And I hope Chase makes the jump under this staff from years 1-2 like OMax did

I have watched college bb for over fifty years and after watching the Marquette games last year (especially the two games vs Uconn) – I can't stress enough the way Smart has put this team in a situation to be special. You have five players. And they play both ways. You need a center, a power forward,  an athletic small forward shooter,  and two guards. It all sounds so simple.

Tyler and Kam Jones operate together to set up the offense. They put so much pressure on defenses and they make one another so dangerous. I wouldn't trade them for anything.

Where's the power forward? Where's Jae Crowder or Otoule? Those days are long gone.

Gold defended Sonago and all these guys chin to chin at the end of the year. He will find his aggressiveness.  Omax is gone. Oh my! Give me Joplin and Chase Ross. At the end, last year, they  played in critical situations and made big plays. I see good things. And then there's OSO– An amazing player last year. Not getting enough credit. He is the reason this team will entertain a trip to the final four. He will set up the triangle with Kolek and Kam. Kam is an amazing athlete and a more decent young man that you would ever meet. He will not be Wade but he will be someone that we will all remember. This team will be so fun to watch.

There will be games when MU will coast and the sophomores and the freshmen will see themselves play college bb and feel like they belong on this team and the future only looks brighter. And everyone grows and grows and eventually they take their turn.

Like Butch and Dwyane and Jimmy. I know, I shaking a lot of pom poms. But just wait and see. The next year will be better than last year. There will be games that will disappoint us but there will be games that will make us jump and down in our living rooms. My grand daughters will say "Mom. What's wrong with grandpa?" And she will say, "That's Marquette basketball, honey."

I like (and share) your enthusiasm, oil can.

Oso gets plenty of credit, though.

It's definitely best case scenario, but if everything hits, Chase has the athleticism, shooting ability (based admittedly on scrimmages and open practices), and defensive acumen to make a huge jump. Particularly considering what we've seen from freshmen to sophomores under this staff. He might still be a year away, but if anyone has the capability to make that jump now, it's him.

1. Good health
2. That they stay connected and team focused (Avoid ego problems that can come with success)
3. Jop a capable defender and rebounder
4. Ross, Jones and Gold take a significant step up in terms of impact
5. That the joy of success exceeds the weight of expectations.

He has the capability - lets hope he's ahead of schedule.
