Syracuse is this year's version of last year's UCONN
« on: February 18, 2008, 08:01:49 PM »
They're young, very talented, but inexperienced. However, UCONN last year wasn't beat up like Syracuse is this year. 'Cuse is missing a very good trey shooter in Rautins and another key player in Devendorf. Both of them would of given them some much needed leadership as well as much needed depth. This explains why they're 7-7 in conference. Look out for them next year. They might win the BE. MU will still have a tough time though at the Carrier Dome in a couple of weeks against them. I think 'Cuse can beat Louisville on a neutral court though. Could happen if they match up in MSG.

Agreed. Unfortunately, they will be left out of the NCAA in my prediction. So Boeheim will be all over ESPN complaining, and probably say the BE should be broken up.

are the cuse fans calling for boeheim's head for not making the tourney two years in a row?  Or are they still sore about their nickname changing?  Or both?

Knowing two 'cuse fans, no on Boeheim obviously. He does have a little longer body of work than TC, though. (not that I believe all the knocks on TC were fair, particularly in '05. They make the tourney that year if TD doesn't get hurt).

And both of them think the nickname thing there is pretty ridiculous, too.

BTW, I think their win Saturday put them in. For now. Big game for them Saturday obviously.

I know we have to be concerned about seeding, but I hope the 'Cuse wins a big one before us.  I don't want them super-hungry for a big one when we go into Syracuse.  Figure if we win that game, we can have the same record as them and have the higher seed (provided there are not complex 3-way or 4-way scenarios).

On another note regarding the Louisville-Syracuse game, can Looeyville fans complain more about calls?  I have never seen a stadium boo every single call like these fans.  Character could pull out a gun and shoot someone dead and they would boo the foul call.  ::)

Is it a Kentucky thing or a U-of-L thing?  Either way, they really need to get a clue.

They will not win the Big East next year if Donte Green goes into the NBA draft.  If he stays, they will be contenders.  I really like Johnnie Flynn and can't wait to see him go against DJ.  Wes Matthews against Paul Harris is another good match.
