We've been laughed out of the arena the last 4 ncaa games we've played in. Granted one of those was an elite 8 game but still is true. They've had no chance from the opening buzzer the last 4 times they stepped out on to an NCAA tournament floor, under 3 different coaches and over 9 years (no tournament in 2020 so not fair to count that depressing crapfest).

It needs to end now. When we make it next year they better frickin come to play in the opening round.  If we lose but it's a game I can handle it, but if we don't even compete I may just have to give up. I'm not gonna root for Wisconsin, that's crazy, but I'll find someone else.

I'm going to agree with this analysis, man it's hard to see a 13 seed Vermont hanging with an Arkansas team, I'll give Shaka a couple years before I go to the dark side (Oregon/Oregon St), but come on a competitive game would have been a breath of fresh air, is that asking too much, if Shaka acknowledges the success and disappointment of tbe NCAA loss that will go a long way with acknowledging disappointment and a need for growth, that would give me a lot of hope for the future
Do what you want about giving Shaka a long leash, 2 to 3 years. Too many on this board had even longer term sentiments on Wojo-Dukiet and that dragged MU down the toilet. Yesterday's complete smackdown should be a complete wakeup call to all fans bot to accept that bullcrap.
Embarrassing. The NC players were laughing at MU.
TOTALLY UNACCRPTABLE FOR MU FANS.
SHAKAS ASS MUST NOW FEEL THE HEAT BLASTING IT.
Next year better be a significant upswing in wins, BEast standings, dance seeding, and recruiting.
No more excuses or wish washy statements of patience.
WHAT A TOTAL LAUGHINGSTOCK EMBARRASMENT OF PERFORMANCE.

And really...who cares if they're mocking?

Their time will come again.  What goes around comes around.

Shaka just laid the foundation, now just build upward. Couldn't ask for a better place to start.
"Laid the foundation"? Cmon man. The only foundation he laid was the trench for the latrine.

..From the beginning of the season through the winning streak, you generally saw the team competing well, and we assumed Shaka was making great adjustments because we often came back in games (even if we lost).

So either he forgot how to do that starting in Feb, or the players stopped listening, or that was all just a bad assumption on our part.

This resonates with me greatly, and is the largest question mark for all those who say this year was a building block and MU's future is bright.

The most indicting thing about yesterday was how scared the guys looked. Total deer in headlights. Should never have been the case. Shaka should have explained they were playing with house money -- everyone expected them to lose, predicted them to lose, and they weren't supposed to be there in the first place, so go out and have some fun. Instead everyone but O-Max came out and pissed down their leg. Buzz is a douchebag, but his teams were fearless.

EG ....

You're right.  The team played tight, they looked scared.  They lost their composure ( including Smart ).  It was
an absolute disgrace

The way they played... And Shaka s utter lack of success in the NCAAT for the last decade is a major concern.  I think it's clear based on the TX choke job last year, and the beat down yesterday, that he's doing something way WRONG in prepping his teams for tournament play.

Why has he not adjusted??

Only silver lining on yesterday's horrible performance, 99% of the viewership probably shut the game off and turned on a different game. I was watching at a bar in the Third Ward and my son and I were the only idiots watching the game. I feel badly for anyone the made trip down to the game. Actually I feel badly that I left work early and ran up a $150 food and drink bill.

For the first time ever in my 50+ years of watching Marquette games, I turned off the game with about 6 minutes to go in the first half and watched the Richmond/Iowa game. I lived in Richmond for about 21 years and was very happy for their success. Later I watched St. Peter's take down a team that I really cannot stand. Kentucky has the most obnoxious, insufferable fans in the country. I was really hoping Vermont and Akron would pull off upsets as well but they fell short.

I never thought I would turn off a Marquette game early but yesterday was simply more than I could bear.
