In a mid semester AD meeting last week, Shaka said his biggest challenge is keeping players focused on what is happening today.

The lapses seem to reflect that. We've seen what this team can do when they focus on D and are patient on offense.

The talent is there.  Just need to dial in the focus.

Am I missing prognosticators that think we are anywhere near the bubble?

I am still skeptical of Marquette's seed, net rank 36, Ken Pom 40. That would imply 9 or 10. Yes q 1 and 2 have a lot of wins but a lot of losses. I do hope for a couple of wins in bet and a good draw in the ncaa tourney.
Many other things factor in, even moving seeds to try to avoid early Conference matchups.

If MU gets an 8 seed, that is still a success story given the pre-season projections. A finish of 5th in BEast is also a success considering those pre-season projections. Still disappointing when looking back at that mid season run.
Shaka must still improve on bringing in studs and learn how to not lose to teams like UConn, DePaul and Creighton. We should always be ahead of some of those teams considering our history, resources and Shakas history.

UConn has won 4 national titles in the last 25 years

bro. An ncaa selection this year is a massive success. 8 seed is solid! We shoulda been a mid NIT selection.

DePaul and Creighton sure... in what non blue and gold glasses world is MU above UConn as a program after the 70s?

Porky's Butthole

I love the fact that this game mattered so much. Yeah, I absolutely want to win some games in the BET and NCAA but regardless of what happens the rest of the way I'm thrilled with this season.
Porky concurs.  If anyone had told Porky we'd be 19-11 and 11-8 in conf and NCAA bound prior to the start of the season Porky would have said they're crazy, but thrilled to be wrong.   Where Porky diverges from Blue Man is in loving that the game mattered so much.  Had they taken care of business on Wednesday it would have mattered less.  Porky flew out to attend the St. John's game from the east coast, and honestly wished the game mattered a lot less and that MU was in a such a strong position, their NCAA seeding / prospects wouldn't have been vulnerable even if STJ smoked them.  Glad they didn't, just sayin.  As it happens, STJ was also staying in Porky's hotel.    This was Porky's first time at Fiserv and the venue is nothing short of spectacular.  If Fiserv isn't the nicest arena in the country Porky doesn't know what is.   The student section and general fan engagement was incredible and nothing like the ambivalent at best atmosphere back when Porky was a student, and assume during the last couple of WOJO years as well.   Extremely Impressed!
