Likely because Alvarez always wanted to be in position to get rid of Gard, who wasn't his first choice anyway.
And Gard is still coaching at Wisconsin, hasn’t bolted, and is doing a decent-to-good job? It’s almost as if Alvarez realized he wasn’t bidding against anyone for Gard’s services and wrote up a contract that reflected that fact...

Yeah he apparently understands this thing called leverage of which Wojo has earned none

Wojo must be a master negotiator. Constant extensions and a high buyout for what hes accomplished.

Doesn’t Gard have a pretty large pension due to being in the UW System for so long? Would that contribute to a lower buyout?

When has a Wojo team
Played w / an “ edge “ or hard nosed
or w / an attitude?

Never.

As noted above, nice guys finish last
Or in Steve’s case, just above DPAUL

It doesn’t take an azzhole for a team to play with an edge. It takes someone who can inspire kids. Wojo’s problem is he’s vanilla, boring, bland - uninspiring

I agree
There are many ways to inspire a team

Wojo fails at any and all of them
