With tonight's game canceled, was there any consideration of looking into finding a non-conference game to fill the gap (I'm assuming there were other teams, in other conferences, that also had a game canceled tonight and available).

Or, is this option off the table now that we are in conference play?

We can use the 6 days of rest against Providence.
You will see what a difference a week makes.
Or I'll be earing my words.

The next excuse will be how rusty they are.

I think we shoulda tried to schedule a game with DePaul once Nova went on pause. We could have played Thursday.

Other conferences seem to be more open to improvising when teams go on pause, but the BE seems pretty inflexible. The Pac 12 even shuffled things around for football, which of course has a much bigger traveling party and stadium requirements.

Would have benefited both teams to have scheduled the game.

If there get to be too many postponed games, some games could conceivably be ultimately cancelled leaving teams with different # of total games played.

I think this is inevitable. The only possible way around it IMO would be on-the-fly rescheduling like the MU-DePaul example I used above, but the BE doesn't seem to be doing that.

They did with St John's going to Georgetown then to Seton Hall when opponents paused. MU likely couldn't do a non conference game due to NCAA scheduling limits and the assumption they'll get in all BE games.

I get not allowing non-conference games. But I don't understand why MU and DePaul didn't play this past Thursday when both of them had games with Nova postponed. And DePaul has already lost a few conference games, so I don't think it's wise to assume they'll get all 20 BE games in, unless they get more creative.

Maybe they approached DePaul and they turned it down since they had a game on Saturday.  Who knows.

But I think basketball all over is going to have unbalanced standings.  There is no way you are going to get all postponed games played.  It is what it is.

Agree - I have no idea whether it was discussed; and if it was, I have no idea which school might have said no. Putting the unknown specifics of any discussions aside, I still believe it's prudent to get in games when you can.
