When asked for my input I suggested keeping Warriors and substitute a Norseman for Old Willy
Still amazed at the lack of imagination from a UNiversity

I liked someone's suggestion of Joan of Arc.  Just think how progressive we would have looked to have a female mascot for men's sports.

Does anyone know of in college athletics (No cheerleaders don't count)?
Have some patience, FFS.

Nice try, but Delaware Blue Hen is actually a breed of gamecock.

And this mascot is definitely a dude.

Have some patience, FFS.

Pretty sure Bucky has been neutered. Does that count?

at least the author tells ya right off the bat where he stands politically-

"Marquette and Seattle are to be commended for team nickname changes that the Washington, D.C. pro football team should take as instructive. But they could've picked something more interesting."

too bad santa cruz ain't jesuit-my all time fav-banana slugs- could have a lot of fun with that one as well as wichita state's, as they already do  ;D

My word choice was poor: By "female" I meant "woman"

maaaaaaaaaaaaybe it has nothing to do with politics, and everything to do with respecting other human beings and their culture.

ok hards, my man...what iffffffffff the author said marquette and seattle whimped out to the minority viewpoint instead of "commended"?  would that still be respecting other human beings?  in this instance, the ones who disagreed with the name change and felt the name "warrior" did not necessarily refer to native americans as it once did

he finishes with a statement that i am very much in agreement with-"but they could've picked something more interesting"

all i'm saying is, at least the guy revealed his persuasion.  that's all.  i'm not criticizing him for it.  it then allows one to better understand the lens thru which he generates his rankings.  that's it.  no dog whistle.  not trying to create something where there is nothing
