Wojo coaches this season to win games and played the guys he felt gave us the best chance. IMO, he did not play more was based off the fact he is not ready to play at this level. I noted his freshman year that he was not ready to step up in minutes going into this season. Very good athlete, not much of a D1 player at this point.

I think he was better simply for one reason; he played like he belonged on the court. Cain played like one of us would have if we were teleported off our couch into a D1 basketball game (with exception of Ners naturally)

Cain is a great kid and seems to genuinely love Marquette. For that reason I’d be a little surprised if he left. But I don’t see a ton of minutes for him next season and for that reason, I wouldn’t blame the kid for leaving. If MU is gonna redshirt him (has anyone ever redshirted a junior year without a transfer and while healthy tho?), why not redshirt somewhere else where you’ll get a bigger role.

I hope he stays. Dude is athletic AF and has some game. But he was way too sped up when he played and was a turnover machine. Some of that would obviously be solved with more minutes, but with Greg and Koby coming in and no obvious departures at his position, gonna be tough sledding.
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

How many guys red shirt their junior year not due to transfer or injury? No one.

I remember Mike Flory redshirting his junior or senior year.  Yes, it happens.  Very rarely, but not "no one".
"I hate everything about this job except the games, Everything. I don't even get affected anymore by the winning, by the ratings, those things. The trouble is, it will sound like an excuse because we've never won the national championship, but winning just isn't all that important to me.” Al McGuire

You do it if you and the coaching staff believe that you will have a bigger role after the redshirt. I see potential in Cain, I'd like him to stay. I think he just needs some time to have the game slow down for him.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Cain is going to be free to improve his game somewhere else.

He is probably a classic solid senior but kids don’t want to be that anymore.  Transfers are part of doing business today.
