also federal employees will get back pay for all the time lost so although it sucks not having the money now, at the end of the day it is basically a several week paid vacation.

Which just makes it idiotic from a management perspective.  What company can give its employees a month of pay without getting any productivity in return?!

Stop the hostage taking, send me and the other 800,000 back to work, and THEN resume your negotiations.  In the meantime, you are just wasting taxpayers dollars.
