If he's not, we're likely going to start two small guards again with Markus playing the 2.

I'd almost prefer Markus was handed the reigns and allowed to approve with the great amount of talent around him.

I approve of this message.

I don't know the future roster so well, but who is the other small guard?  I thought nearly our entire lineup was over 6'4" except Howard next year.

This is assuming we get a grad transfer PG. I'd assume the other PG we brought in would be 6'2 at the tallest.

MuMark

6'2 or 6'3 can be a pretty big difference from 5'10.......especially if the 6'2/3 guy can defend.

If it ends up being Howard were in trouble, dude cannot create shots for others like Rowsey, Carlino, or Diener does. Howard looks to shoot often, but unlike the others, does not look to get his team involved. He also is a horrible dribble.

Player B= Greg Elliott

A grad transfer.

Markus backs him up.  Greg backs up Markus at the 2.

Greg is a very good passer when he is able to catch the ball on the move on the wing and get into the lane.  He did not look comfortable being the primary ball handler trying to initiate the offense.

This.

PistolBrad

I would not be surprised if we switch up the offense next year and run more sets out of the high post to get Hauser more involved.  It would reduce the amount of dribbling required by Howard and if Hauser is being guarded by a 3 he should be able to see/pass to the whole court.

Just saw.

But Hausers 16.2% to 11.7% isnt to bad.

Also for those who are Saying Rowsey is not a good point guard hes got a 27% to 16.3. For as much as he has the ball in his hands, those are some insanely good stats.

OH and since I was blasted on a game thread a while back for saying Rowsey had better shot creation then Howard, I now have the stats to prove it.

Rowsey

Howard

Though according to this, we really need to give Sam the ball a lot more.

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Rowsey's junior year stats:

Assist rate 19.7
TO Rate     15.3

Markus is not far off from those numbers.  He could improve to. Rowsey levels as he gains experience and works on his ball handling. Even if he doesn't, he still is the most proven PG on the returning roster. Those clamoring for Elliott are exhibiting signs of "Backup QB Syndrome."  That said, I'd still like to add a big grad transfer PG that can defend.  We shall see.

Anyone clamoring for Elliott to be our saving grace after watching the 2 minutes last night must really just hate high usage point guards. Because theres no reason for elliot to ever be there with his current skills.

Rowsey couldn't get his teammates involved his first two years either. Players improve.

Markus' ball handling is perfectly fine. He is good at beating his man and drawing extra defenders. He just needs to be willing to make the pass.

Is Landry Shamet available?

Probably, but I'm not sure the Bucks will be looking at a PG with their pick after adding Bledsoe.

After the two minutes of Greg at the point in the SJU game, I am leaning toward Markus.    I think Greg will be better next year with 2 good hands and 15 lbs heavier.   But Markus still gets my vote.     Actually, grad transfer PG PLUS a decent freshman gets my vote.

Wouldn't we need someone to leave for this to happen?
I know, never stop recruiting, but I have been slightly confused about the scholly situation ever since the Baily mission.

Correct. While technically all scholarships are still open, we are projected to only have one available scholarship for next season

I have no inside knowledge or gut feeling.    All I know is that someone has transferred every year since 2000.    As much as I would prefer otherwise, I do not think that streak ends.    So, yes, two.

If a second becomes available, I want grad transfer PG and traditional transfer BPA. Then a 2019 PG.

No matter who you choose on the current Roster, what happens when/if they are injured.

No Brainer for me its a Grad Transfer either as a Starter or a Backup.

We have to get a point guard from somewhere.  Marcus and Greg aren't point guards.   We won't go anywhere even with all the talent around them if we don't get someone who can handle pressure .
