thanks for the heads up.  sounds really heavy; think midnight express without the happy ending.  i know we ran a topic back when this actually happened, but does anyone here remember him?  he sounds and probably was as most describe him, like a really unique  and kind-hearted person; like our military, but with a pen.  i mean the selfless part

Here a great article on Foley, and his impactful life:

Hollywood should make a movie on this...and MU should endow/name a scholarship is his name(amendment...my bad MU already has done this). To me, this is life very well lived
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

Part of da elephant debate tonight, hey?
Please just watch the show...his life and his death are not political...its just real emotional and very personal

Great documentary about a great man.  He is a wonderful representative of Marquette.

If you missed it, here is the schedule of the next several times it will be on TV:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5278466/tvschedule?ref_=tt_wbr_tv

And here is a link to the scholarship fund.  The first scholarship was awarded last August.

Perhaps you folks who stopped giving to Marquette because you were offended by the nickname change might decide to honor this fine man instead.
Have some patience, FFS.

The Lens

I didn't know Jim, but I know many of his friends. A long time poster in here, Mike_Marquette is one of the Foley Gang.  They were incredible friends who never gave up hope through out his ordeals.

Foley is the absolute embodiment of a Man for Others.  The way he chose to to live his life is inspiring and makes me proud to be a Marquette alum.  He lived it.

Struck me that his worldly possessions were essentially limited to his camera gear, his white helmet and the new 'tough' pants he asked his mom to get him for Christmas.  Man for Others committed on telling the story so all of us could know the truth.

Celtic Truth

I just watched the documentary.....absolutely amazing. It's incredible how a man could be so selfless. He is the definition of a man for others. He did marquette proud

As chick reminds us, MU has a Foley scholarship.  The first was granted this year to an incoming digital media Frosh.  There are a million stories to be told, if only someone is willing and able to tell them.  Consider your support.

ChicosBailBonds

Watched it with my kids tonight.  Amazingly done.  RIP

Please watch.  Moving story well told.  Can't imagine how rough it was for his family.

not to get off topic, but along similar lines-kayla mueller from prescott, az. was repeatedly raped before she was killed by her "jv" isis thugs-could never imagine being her father thinking of her last days

Appreciate your sentiment, Rocket,  but please don't hijack this thread. There are plenty of others where you can get in your political digs.

Watched it last night.

Kinda speechless.

BTW, it was nominated for an Oscar for Best Documentary.  It must have just missed last year's cutoff.
