This was Fort Wayne's first win EVER against a ranked opponent.
The Hooisers were #3, the highest ranked opponent that Fort Wayne has ever played.

Congrats to Tom Crean!

Superbar.

But I understand Heisys thought process - there's more clicks to be had here

The point here is obvious. Any team that has a bad loss during the preseason is done for for the year.
Have some patience, FFS.

The reason MU should never play at UWM.  Foolish to play a "buy" road game even in your home market.

sounded like a decent deal for IU...they got the rights to sell the majority of the tickets...

I'd feel better about this if I knew some of Fort Wayne's famous alumni.

Don't you have to pay extra for that?

The Lens

My ESPN app labeled the game as Indiana Classic (whereas MU-IUPUI was 2K Classic Campus Game).  Was there more to this?  Was playing @IPFW part of an exempt tourney where they got 2-3 games that counted as one?

After the game, IPFW's coach thanked Crean on BTN for playing the game. Guessing it was a 3-for-1 or some such.

Mods: Please sticky this thread for the next time people start bitching about why we don't schedule a bunch of RPI 100-150 teams in OOC play.

They'll be safely in by the end of the season, but if Indiana were a bubble team, this kind of loss would sting come March... though probably not as bad as going 10-0 against a bunch of cupcakes.

In short, assembling a schedule that maximizes RPI is not easy.  As you up your competition, the probability for upsets like this increases drastically, even if you are - but especially when you're not - a top 25 team.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Did they pee down their legs?

No, I think they dropped a pretty nasty load.

Have they started calling for the Tanned One's head yet in Bloomington?

I agree that maximizing RPI isn't easy. That said, I wouldn't be in favor of a home and home series with a mid major. Where I think the line should be drawn is targeting 150-250 level buy game opponents rather than sub-300 and any mid major series should be 3-for-1 with the aim being to enhance the home schedule. If we aren't getting multiple home games, no way we should give one up. Surprised Indiana was willing to do a home and home.
