Between Duane and Aaron Rodgers I'm exhausted with all the body language discussion and experts out there.

Scoop oftentimes comes off like a bunch of 70 year old men lamenting that kids these days don't play the way that they played.  (Even though they never played that way.)  Sports are fun.  Sports are emotional.  I doubt Haanif cared.

This is like the laughable "slap of five" controversy from a couple years ago.

Wait, I thought that was why Vander left early.

Do people think before they post here? When Duane reads this do you think this will help or hurt the cause?

I saw no pouting. Just frustration. Which is natural when you lose your first game and need ot in the second one.

Maybe scoop needs to take its own advice. I've seen way more frustration and pouting from fans here than I've seen from players on the court.

I hope, and I'm pretty confident, that it would neither help nor hurt the cause if Duane reads this.  I can guarantee you that he hears far, far worse things from opponents on the court (and opponents' fans when on the road), so if this is going to bother him (which I doubt he reads it anyway) then we're going to have some big issues with his play based on what people say to him during actual games.

Stephen Bardo is not a 70-year-old man and he is not a Scooper (to my knowledge).

This is a forum. We are allowed to discuss things we see and hear.

I'm not too worried about Duane pouting a little. I actually think it's a non-factor and I agree that it's kind of a sign that he really wants to do well and to win.

But compared to a thread about Wojo already being on the hot seat, come on. Duane's reaction is something that actually happened in a game, a fairly well-respected objective party with no ties to Marquette noticed it and said something about it on national TV (or whatever FS1 is), and it elicited a conversation here. What is a fan site for?

TAMU, as for us hurting Duane's feelings, that doesn't concern me even one-millionth of one percent. If you're not tough enough for this slight bit of discussion, you're not tough enough to play college basketball.

And you know I find you one of our most reasonable posters and agree with you most of the time.

I think he wants to be "the guy". It's safe to say he might be the 3rd guy.

I had heard that him and his Dad thought that he was a sure NBA guy. I disagree but if that is what is in their heads then he might be disappointed by his path right now.

A good kid, he will be fine.

I sure hope he isn't so sensitive that it affects him.  If he is, it would make him an awfully fragile team leader.

And for what it's worth, the criticism of Duane has yet to reach one millionth the level of the vitriol that was spewed here about Derrick, Juan, Jake and others....

Duane is officially on the hot seat.

Bardo said something like:

"Duane Wilson has terrible body language right now."

Bardo is one of the better analysts, too. Played for a Final Four team at Illinois, played briefly in the NBA, played professionally overseas for years and is a really sharp guy.

correct, but his own coach said that he is one of the few players he has coached that truly has amnesia.  that, coupled with the fact that he made a huge and one down the stretch, tends to make me think he can get as pissed as he wants when he plays poorly or the team plays poorly as long as he sticks with it.

bardo didn't use the word "pout" and i didn't see duane let his anger get the best of him.  i'd be pissed if i was playing that poorly after playing so well last year, too.  hopefully, impacting the game the way he did at the end will get him going again and his shot will start falling.

I saw him noticeably pout once.  He was out in front on a fast break and Cheatham didn't pass him the ball, and instead went the length of the court and got stuffed at the rim.  Duane was hanging and shaking his head...but I almost don't blame him there.

He had one tough game that wasn't even that bad...I am willing to give him a pass, as I think he's going to be a real stud. No biggie.

Correct, and if I recall Wojo went ballistic.  I don't know if it was on that play, but I thought it was.  He was giving an earful.

I don't know Duane personally but I can tell you that a vast majority of the college basketball players I have worked with before read the fan sites though the smart ones eventually learn to avoid it. And if you don't think an 19 year old kid is affected by people insulting him on the internet, you are kidding yourself. I have seen kids come to physical blows over passive aggressive bs that gets posted on the internet. I've seen kids hurt themselves and even attempt to take their own lives over crap posted about them on the internet.

Now before anyone gets worked up, no I am not suggesting that anything posted on this site would lead to such a huge reaction from a player. But we often forget that these aren't some untouchable celebrities. These are kids. Just because they are basketball players at a high major program doesn't mean that they have more emotional endurance and maturity than the other college students. Have you met a college student recently? Someone doesn't sit next to them in the dining hall and boom their self esteem is gone.

Its very possible that this type of crap doesn't do any harm. But it certainly doesn't help.

I agree. A discussion about what happens on the court is great. It's why I come here. I didn't take the OP as discussion. "Hey Duane, stop pouting, it's not all about you" reads more as an insult to me. Commenting on his body language while silly IMHO is a legitimate topic of discussion. I just don't believe that was the OP's intent or impact.

The heat of this thread's asinine f***ing HOT TAEK is hovering right around 2x106 Scoville units.

And the IDs of the first two posters of said thread, well, color me completely unsurprised.

Last year I had trouble telling Wilson and JJJ apart, since they both wore white head bands. Now I still have trouble because they have the same hairdo. I have to look at their numbers to know who is who.

Lol.  We are the worst.  Duane should really stop hanging out with Olivia Munn and show more fire.

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
