i'm sure there are a few of you out there that remember this? we were doing this up to at least 1978, 79, 80??  anyone remember what caused our tradition to go away?  i'm sure it had to do with safety, delay of game and most importantly-causing a temporary shortage of the all important paper in the dorms in times of NEED-now that's a crisis

This is a great memory. We would ransack the McCormick sh1tters of all rolled paper on our way to the Arena. We used to wear either those v1.0 down parkas or the Army field jackets and they would be bulging from the ammo we were carrying.

Point of fact, it was great camouflage for sneaking in Pabst Blue Ribbons. The ticket takers would assume that the down parka bulge was strictly from tp and wouldn't bother to do the 'quick frisk' that would strip us of our $1.45 a six PBRs.

1978-mccormick floor 9-we had to scavenge the paper a couple days before game day and put it under armed guard so we had peace of mind when the time was right.  black market tp was gold.  does anyone remember when this tradition ended?  did it just fade or did they have to threaten us with technicals?  this was before sheryl crow's infamous "one square" proposition.   she did give new meaning to the term "stinky fingers" ;D

Sheryl Crow never enjoyed a late night bowl of chili after slamming 15 Red White and Blues at the Lanche...

One square? Might as well bare hand it...

This sentence, plus "and then I picked up my degree." comprise the entire Chapter 5 of my autobiography, with the chapter titled "My Five Years at Marquette."

I was 919 in mccormick. We didn't have a tp monopoly but we had some great all sports.

To put the cheap beer into perspective - minimum wage was around $2.40 then.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Thanks for this one.

I got some TP seized by ticket taker on the way in. So...We went to a mens john at the Arena to replenish, just bruting some rolls off their industrial holders. With three or four rolls in our pockets, we paused to leave some used beer in the urinals. While peeing we heard some old man swear up a cuss storm after dropping a load to realize his stall was devoid of TP. Running out the door, we got back to our seats and were the section heroes with some huge heaves to almost mid court. Good times
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

oh-oh, i think my room was 910.  no one will ever forget my room mate-joe XXX, he had the knife collection.  he was a great guy but people tended to shy away from him as he was constantly sharpening his 10-12 inchers.  i mean you honestly could shave with these things.  he was also a locksmith-helped people get into their rooms when locked out.  and into others rooms if needed ::) he had a subscription to mercenary magazines and a lot more stuff at home including hand grenades.  MU had to draw the line somewhere i guess

real chili 83

There was always in short supply on 10 South.

We had Dave Hertig, aka Slick, from Niagra, Wi.  Dave could eat, like no other.  He was banned from three all you can eat fish frys, and two spaghetti dinners. And he could Sh1t for hours.  He was a skinny dude too.  Dave was an all around good egg.

Dave passed a few years ago.  His career was a state trooper in Wisconsin.  RIP Slick.

What the hell dorm were you in, Doc? McCormick and Schroeder stocked nothing but Ft Howard Sandpaper. After a night of RWB drinkin' and chili eatin' you needed two rolls to deal with the effluence. Your ass crack was like hamburger meat by the time you were finished...

But I will say that the aerodynamics of Ft Howard and St James see thru TP was superior to the flight characteristics of Charmin which had too much drag

I believe this game was the end.  Crazy crowd, throwing pennies, tv delays, Dean not pleased.

Btw, none you you cats must have found the library in your five years at MU as an undergrad. I got very adept with a paper clip to pick the jumbo roll tissue lock in the men's bathroom stall.

Seeing Marquette Warriors with the warrior logo looks so nice.

Al's last home game was best tp display. It was very impressive.
