I don't think many thought Jimmy or Wes would be NBA players their sophomore year, let alone NBA stars.

Give Duane time. I still think he's going to be an absolute stud in the college game. I tend to agree that he'll probably never play in the NBA (perhaps a cup of coffee), but he certainly has a chance.

Wes and Jimmy are 4 or 5 inches taller, and 40-45 pounds heavier.

If it's close the nod goes to Traci (or Hanif at the "2"). A coach generally favors his own recruits.

Do not want to get Crean thoughts into your head. Nothing against Carter here, just do not believe that he is 30 minute PG for NCAA team at this point. We have Henry for one year and need to make something happen.

The reason I prefer Carter at PG is that his play lets the other 4 guys do what they do best on the floor. Luke can set up on the blocks with a reasonable expectation of getting the ball in a scoring position, Henry is able to roam the floor at will and Sandy is able to find open spots for 3s. Haanif is able to find space away from the ball to give him an opportunity to drive or shoot and Duane is able to move to open spaces. We obviously missed that last year as Derrick did not enhance anyone else's game. I also think Carter will be a much, much better defender than Duane once he gets a little experience. So much of an improvement over passing the ball to nowhere 25' from the basket like last years team.

I just haven't seen anything from Duane that screams Point Guard to me. He is a scorer not a facilitator. I don't know how Traci will respond to pressure once we get in league play, but Duane showed last year that it caused a lot of problems for him.

What about Dwight Buycks?

TAMU, Knower of Ball

I feel very confident that if Duane and Traci are on the floor at the same time, Traci will be running the point. He's done very well these last five games. Duane is better off the ball.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Great example!  Turned himself into a better PG by playing in Europe.  Couple years in the NBA but is now on a nice contract in China.  That is probably what Duane will be.

Thinking the same thing. Good, not great scorers who aren't a natural fit at PG. Similar size, too. But I feel better about Duane's NBA prospects than I did when Dwight was a senior

And I think Buycks had better basketball instincts than Duane.

Well maybe.  We saw Dwight after he played college ball for two years.  Duane will still have two more years.

Not sure about that -- the play at the end of that Louisville game in 2011(?) was one of the most boneheaded plays I've ever seen.

That said, I am one of few that believe that Tony Miller was the most overrated PG in school history. So, who knows maybe Carter is the next Tony Miller.
:o Tony Miller, the guy who is 8th all time on the NCAA career assist leaders.  The guy who is first on the list all time for MU and leads the second place guy (that other overrated PG named Diener) by 340 assists.  How do you want to rate your Point Guard, by how many shots they block?  If Traci ends up anywhere close to Tony as a career PG sign me up for that.
You say that we will be a post dominated team this year and in that regard you are right.  Don't you want someone who can get the ball to those post guys?  Traci is that guy, Duane is not

A quick 3-pointer early in the shot clock with the game on the line and no one under the basket? Oh, wait....

Up 18 with five and change to go.  All MU had to do was dribble out the shot clock four times to win it.  Buzz's worst game.  Living hell to sit through in person too.
