Makes the alleged Shaka concern about MU not having an AD seem somewhat feeble now...

Much easier circumstance to overlook at UT versus Marquette.

Shaka was seemingly moving the goal posts on us.

But an interesting fact that Anonymous Eagle alerted me to on twitter, Shaka (and football/baseball coaches) report to an associate AD, not directly to the AD.  Not sure if that alters things at all, but you'd think if the AD were gone the Associate AD would go with for the money sports but I could be wrong.

At most big times places, the big time coaches report right to the AD along with Associate ADs of various types.  The rest of the non-revenue coaches report up through one or two Associate ADs.

For instance, I think at Wisconsin the only coaches that report right to Barry are Chryst, Ryan, the women's basketball coach and the hockey coach.

So at Texas, maybe the only direct reports to the AD are the head football coach, the offensive coordinator, the defensive coordinator and the special teams coach.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

I don't say that because he was the worst Blazers president ever.  I say it because the man is petty and a colossal hypocrite.  He once registered the domain name of an Oregonian reporter because of a negative article.  And here's a little gem from his ASU days talking about Notre Dame's attempt to get out of their game in Tempe during the ACC transition:

QuoteAt least in the little Catholic town I grew up in (Beaver Dam, Wisconsin) the good nuns wouldn't have thought that was a very appropriate way to honor your word.

...

Our position is 'Hey, we've got a contract,' and we expect Notre Dame to live up to it.

This quote was from April 2013, a time when Patterson was adamantly reassuring ASU leadership he was staying put, while talking to officials in Austin about the job he'd take six months down the road.  (And yes, I know in college sports that someone's "word" is as thin as McCormick's bath tissue.)

But hey, at least those Beaver Dam nuns put the fear of God in him!

Right, but Texas does it the exact opposition.  Non-revenue sports report directly to the AD and the revenue sports report to an associate AD.  I don't get that at all.

And that was the reason he was fired.

No one wanted to work with or for him anymore.

Their high school nickname is the Golden Beavers.  Must be nice to be a blonde chick at that school.
