He doesn't have the "heart of a champion"?? common.. what does that even mean? you're talking about a guy who won MVP of league.  Sadly his last two seasons were lost due to catastrophic knee injuries.  He is still a great player, let him sit out all the games he wants as long he is healthy for the playoffs.

I think it means exactly what it says. He got paid, that is good enough for him. Winners got out there and try an prove it. Sadly a lot of basketball players are sissy's.

AP tears his ACL and is back in record time to play some football.

A hockey player last year had his heart stop beating on the bench, then asked to go back into the game.

Rose is fearing hypotheticals 20 years down the line. But hey, at least in this hypothetical world his son will have the brains to graduate.

HGH is nice.

OK. We simply disagree.

In my job, I was always judged on my results. Maybe you were fortunate enough to have a different kind of situation.

Okay, I'll just use dummy numbers as a simple example. Let's say, on November 17th, 2014, there are two courses of action you could take.

1.) Sit Rose 20% of regular season games from here on out, giving you 80% odds that he will be healthy during the playoffs.

2.) Play Rose every regular season game that he is remotely capable of playing, giving you 60% odds that he will be healthy during the playoffs.

You choose option #1 on November 17th, 2014.

Fast forward to May 15, 2015. The 20% odds reared their ugly head, and Rose is out for the playoffs despite your choice to sit him on a schedule during regular season games.

In my opinion, you still made the right choice going with option #1 six months prior, even knowing the outcome did not go in your favor.

I would agree that option #1 is your best course of action, but I think people's exception is not with Rose sitting, but with his comments while he's sitting.  If he came out and said this gave him the best chance of being healthy for the playoffs that would be one thing.  But sitting there talking about not wanting to be sore for your son's graduation years and years down the line comes across as soft.

Sure, I can agree with that. But don't rule out that if management wanted to go with strategy #1, the league definitely frowns upon what the Spurs have done in sitting otherwise healthy players. I believe they've even been fined for it. Maybe they had the player come out and say it's his choice so they don't get any blowback from the league.

I realize this sounds insane. I also don't think it matters why he's sitting from management's perspective if they wanted to go with plan #1 anyway.

I guess what I'm saying is I think Rose sitting a good chunk of games that he is healthy this year is a good thing for the Bulls regardless of reason.
