Free Throws
« on: October 09, 2014, 08:11:55 AM »
Was in the Al yesterday towards the very end of practice.  Saw the team practicing free throws.  Juan and Luke were up when I went through.

Symbolizes (to me) the degree of change from the previous regime.  Good stuff!

On a different note, had dinner at Sobelman's on campus.  The place was packed!!!

This morning, saw a cool personalized MU license plate that read "Lanche".  ;D  Black BMW.  If the dude driving it is a Scooper, hats off!

Outside of last year, Buzz's teams were usually pretty good at FTs.  They were generally around 72 or 73%...which is good for a nationwide rank in the mid-50s to low-60s.

Curious, do you know what the average FT% is of "really good" teams?  Teams that make the S16?

It varies.  See below for the teams that made up the Top 50 last year on team FT%

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

No.  I just looked at the national rankings.

But I guess I don't see the point.  If "really good teams" aren't highly ranked in FT%, then it must not be that important.  If they are, and Marquette was regularly in the 20th percentile nationally, then Buzz must have done a good job with free throws.

The "practicing free throws" issue with Buzz was always very questionable.
