Two top 100 recruits to a program like that? Gotta hand it to buzz for convincing guys that could play at most top schools with amazing tradition that Virginia tech is gonna be the place to be
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

The man has skills.    He didn't lose them when he moved to Blacksburg.

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

You're fooling yourself if you think kids these days are picking programs based on tradition.

Tradition isn't anywhere near as high on the list of reasons kids choose today as it used to be but it still matters. It's very rare for a school lacking a basketball tradition to become a truly top 20 program even if a commitment is made by the university. And when it does happen, (see Baylor) the traditional powers scream that the upstart must be cheating.

In Baylor's case, there is a reason for that assertion and the NCAA has them on 3 years probation as a result.

Perhaps, but they are still on probation and if you cross them again while on probation, then things get a lot more fun.

Your right. Baylor is an upstart. The rules are different for them than for NCAA's elites. If that's Scott Drew instead of TC making an illegal visit to Gary Harris while Baylor is on probation I'm sure the powers that be would come down hard on him and his school. Huge double standard. As Al once said, if an envelope with $10,000 in it mailed from the Kentucky athletic department to a recruit came undone and was brought to the attention of the NCAA they would be so outraged they'd put Long Beach State on 5 years probation.
