3 Amigos Recruiting Question
« on: April 26, 2014, 12:01:08 AM »
Since I did not follow Marquette forums like I do not back when the 3 amigos came to Marquette, I was curious how it all played out.  Who committed first?  Who else were they considering?  What was the word on them coming into Marquette?  Were they in touch with each other before they were all committed?  Etc.

Thanks.

James 1st
McNeal 2nd
Wes 3rd

James and McNeal commitments were fairly close together maybe mid-June and Wes was late in the summer.

IIRC we were hot after Bobby Fraser who committed to NC and many were disappointed and then James committed shortly thereafter.  Others probably remember who else was pursuing obviously most thought heavy UW lean for Wes.

Actually my recollection was that Marquette was thought to be the leader for Wes...but maybe I was biased.

I remember they were late June (early July) commits because after spending the opening afternoon at Summerfest, I came home to the news that James committed.  I seem to remember that Jerel's commit came within a couple hours of Dominic's and then Wes maybe a (couple) week(s) later.

Here's hoping the next "three amigo" recruits are Stone, H. Ellenson, and Noskowiak.  And I'm optimistic of Wojo pulling in that hat trick!

Memory is not as good as it used to be, fixed.

I seem to recall that MU fans were more worried about Ga Tech than the Rodents...the rumor being that Wesley didn't want to spend his career being compared to his dad.  In any event, the 3 finalists were MU, GT and UW-Madison.

North Avenue Trade School. Many thought that was where he would end up. I heard geography and proximity were deciding factors as he wanted his mother to be able to participate more fully than being in Atlanta would allow. His mother worked full time at American Family so getting down to GA for games was problematic.
