Hahah, I think we have the same image in our minds of opposing news sources.

Fox 6 also reported that Howland withdrew his name from the hat.

I think one only realistically removes oneself from consideration by accepting another position.  Until Howland takes a coaching job, he's still available.
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

Channel 5 in Chicago had nothing tonight.

Not even with the intro from Marian Brooks

I'm waiting for Jim Tillman to provide expert analysis

So why would believe this vs anything else we have read today?

Uh-huh.  Can't fault the logic.

Down here, it doesn't happen unless Walter and Bill said it happened.

I heard it on the news as well.

Maybe it is because the position will be shortly filled.

Gotta think if Howland did take his name out, it's because he knows he won't be getting the job. He's not gonna get anything even remotely close in terms of resources or $ from any of the schools in search for a coach. Only reason that would make sense would be to get his name out there to other schools rather than "waiting for Marquette". Gotta say, if he did it looks like Smart is our guy.

With Howland out of the mix, we are playing with fire.

Welp, this is it. The dice have been rolled. All we can do now is hope it comes up 7.

If Channel 6 was wrong about Shaka, what makes you think they'll be right about Howland withdrawing his name?

You know I just went to go do the dishes and this question occurred to me.

That's ok, I'd rather have them "reporting" than cheerleading and protecting.

Fox doesn't report.  That invent & make up and then sensationalize.

Do people realize that FoxNews and Fox local affiliates are separate entities?

And that Fox News & MSNBC are the exact same thing on opposite sides AND that arguing about it - on a basketball message board no less - is completely worthless?

I'm guessing that this is your first coaching search.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Yes, and the local news is definitely different.

Yes, I should know better than respond to a CBB post of all people in a moment of tiredness on something so irrelevant.  I slap my own wrist and say no more.

So is this a done deal or what................

Pipines reporting that it's not a done deal but Shaka is reported to want to speak to the players by tonight. "And though it's not a done deal....expect Shaka Smart to be the 17th head coach in MU history."

Annoying if this ends up not being true. Egg on Fox 6 face if it's wrong. Sure hope it's right.

Go Warriors!

No egg at all. If wrong, Fox 6 will make up an excuse and move on. If right, Fox 6 will crow about scooping others. There is no down side to "reporting" stuff like this. And there is zero accountability.
