Proof. Nary an "automatic" to be heard.

heard it several times in the second half---Brian Anderson gets the cliff notes version of the team prior to the game.  He said fans stopped doing it-----and then they could be heard chanting it.

There was a guy (yellow sweater vest) sitting in section 217 who was extremely angry every time the students would do the chant.  I'm pretty sure he yelled "thanks a lot a-holes" at one point in their direction after a Gardner miss.

Seeing how upset that guy got was pretty funny, as was the reaction of those around him, who basically gave him a look of "why are you engaging in swearing matches with 19 year olds?"

It's nothing to get upset about but I do think the "Automatic" cheer needs to go away. It has little upside and can appear silly and misguided when DG misses. It makes Devante's good FT shooting a little less enjoyable.

MU has a very good student section but when Jabakowski calls it the best in the country...I don't know.

Surprised that the team is performing well enough to allow people to start focusing on the student section again.  Usually this only occurs when we're ranked nationally...

Yeah I'm not a big fan of the chant myself, but certainly enjoyed observing the interaction between old, angry guy, and the students.

I thought it was a bad chant and would make it harder for him to make the shots, but he says he likes it and he has shot very well while the chant is going from time to time. I am okay with it. It is pretty bad when we chanted that early in the season and he missed both throws.

Dear Student Section,
During such periods as Davante Gardner's season-average FT% dips below the 75% threshold, please alter your chant to "semi-automatic".

So the fans at the games are just like us on the board. Call names at some fans that are having fun with the automatic chant. Could take or leave the automatic, but it is just some people having fun. And it isn't any more lame than the PA announcer, or whoever has the mic doing the We Are Marquette chant with hardly anybody chiming in.

That's actually pretty funny.  I could take it or leave it, but find it interesting how it frustrates some people so much.  Swearing at our student section because he (probably) believed they caused the miss - LOL!

I think that's Will Ferrell.
