It's not that bad.  There were teams in the 80's under Dukiet that would come to the Rec center and get beat by nearly any combination of 5 players from court 3.  I think these guys would win at the rec center.

The Marquette team with the most losses was the 1963-64 team, which went 5-21. Prior to a last-game win at Xavier, that MU team lost 15 games in a row. Al McGuire took over the following season.

The Marquette team with the fewest victories was the 1940-41 team, which went 2-13. The 1940-41 team also holds the Marquette record for lowest winning percentage (.133). This season featured a game at Creighton where Marquette scored 12, yes, TWELVE points in a 57-12 loss.

But let's not let actual history get in the way of good histrionics.

This team will end up better than the 2003-4 team.  And probably the 2004-5 team.  And absolutely the 2000-1 team.

This team is beginning to resemble the 03-04/04-05 teams.   Wade and Jackson left, but it was assumed that Townsend, Merritt, Mason, Chapman, Diener, Novak, et al would easily be enough to get back to the dance.   Injuries and players not developing as planned wrecked those teams, along with a freshman class that contributed nothing.
