I've been looking for any pictures of the students running to the lake during the final few games of the 2003 tournament. I am sure they exist (wasn't it the cover picture of the trib?), but despite a few hours of searching, i can't find any.

For context, i'm trying to explain to my wife (non-MU) the scope of it.

Thanks!!

LAMUfan

I think I have a picture of my friend cutting my hair with construction paper scissors on Wisconsin during that if that would help  ;D

The phitos of the students in 1977 were much more impressive if it helps to prove your point. MJS archives has photos of that.

That was the best end to a Senior year a guy could have :)

I watch that clip far more often than I care to admit. Gives me goosebumps. I remember that run so vividly. No idea how because I was wasted and honestly have no idea what happened after we got downtown nor how the rest of the night played out or I got back to O'D.

Great freshman experience for me. Though my levels of expectation for the team were not met the following years. Most memorable parts of the run for me was all the people stopping at Avenue Liquors to pick up 40z, and my friend falling in a pothole and spraining her ankle.

LOL I was one of those that stopped for a 40.  I'm so happy someone remembered that.  That is where the night went a lot fuzzy for me.

Yeah, one of the highlights of my life was storming down Wisconsin Ave and starting a "we are marquette" chant with a construction cone at the end of Wisconsin where everyone gathered.

Do you have one that's bigger than that?

Ah, that night...raced back from the Metrodome, went straight to Caffs to continue the party...team bus pulls up, whole team comes into the bar, gets behind the bar starts pouring beer for all the fans.

Great great memory.

Holy sh1t. I remember that now. That's AWESOME. Totally forgot about that. The last thing I really remember is going down WI Ave, watching people go into Avenue Liquors, cops blocks traffic and high-fiving us as we walked by with open cans of beer/alcohol and people honking and cheering. God, that was the most amazing night.

Yeah that afternoon and night was such a blur.  I remember everyone throwing cup/pitchers of beer in Murphs at the end of the game.
Also, had a friend that pee'd over the interstate on Wisconsin!  Cars driving by just slamming on the horn.

I have it at home. I will try to post it and maybe a few others later.

It was pretty great. My buddy is famously pictured in the MJS article hanging from a stoplight in a cowboy hat and no shirt. Running down WI ave while the cops scrambled to block traffic, people pouring out of the dorms. Great great times!

I was soaked leaving Murphs but was too drunk to notice how cold I got partying in the street on 16th and Wells.  Then we ran down to the lake... which sobered me up enough to realize I needed to warm up (and pee).

There was nothing like seeing the fear on the Pfister hotel staff's faces when we walked in and asked to use their bathroom.  It was like they expected the entire horde to storm through their hallowed doors!

I have *no clue* what happened the rest of that night.  I'm assuming it was awesome?

Huh? I call BS on this one. The team bus pulled up to the Old Gym and let the players out.

The Process

So, party people, anyone gonna be on campus tomorrow to hopefully recreate these memories?

Caffs? Goose, don't let the creep factor cramp your style!
Relax. Respect the Process.

Never one to make ish up, maybe the team bus aspect was conflicting, but I distinctly remember At least 6+ players strolling into Cafferys, (maybe out of a LIMO?) the bar manager Jim at the time, inviting the team behind the bar, opened up a bunch of taps and passing out pitchers to all the students.
