Interesting, me thinks over-paid is all relative, Buzz is worth every penny and I wouldn't trade him for other coaches.....there is a TC connection too ;)

Financial compensation is correlated to economic value. Their metrics, on-court success, are not measurements of shareholder value contribution. They should be measuring the IRR. Forbes should know better but the writer is a journalist and not a capitalist.

By the way, Al understood contribution margin. That's why he looked up to the 4 corners of the Arena to see if those seats were filled. That was his measurement that he was doing his job. Simplistic but therein lies its beauty. Put out a great product and people will buy. Al understood that.

Exactly ... they said Buzz is one of the top 6 paid coaches in college basketball.  Not true.  No wonder they think he is overpaid.

Here is what they wrote:

Buzz Williams
Marquette University
Seasons: 6
Salary: $2.8 million
Record: 132-68 (.660)
Tournament Appearances: 4
Final Fours: 0
National Championships: 0

Has done well at Marquette since his promotion from assistant to replace Tom Crean, who bolted for Indiana in 2008. It just doesn't quite add up to a top-six salary.

Any journalist that works for Forbes should also be a capitalist.
Have some patience, FFS.

GGGG

Part of the issue is that I don't think he has a $2.8M salary.  He has a lower salary than that but as I recall, received a bonus of some sort.

None of these universities lose money on these dudes. They essentially pay their own way and then some.

And evidently they are not counting this year's invite, probably because it was written before yesterday night.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Ahh, but that would require true research and an in depth article.  Evidently, this was a fluff piece to attract web traffic during NCAA tournament time.

BTW, you're an NPV=0.

Marquette is one of the elite basketball schools in the country and supports its basketball to the hilt.  We should all be thankful for the school's and alumni strong support of the program.  Go MU!!!
